Chapter 1655 

Damian mused that encountering someone you genuinely adore was a blessing from the heavens. Yet, even Cupid, in all his wisdom, sometimes misfired his love arrows, as was the case with him and Norah. 

Norah was young, sheltered, and naive to the workings of the world, mistaking novelty for love and often diving in headfirst without a second thought. 

But he was different. He couldn’t take advantage of her innocence. 

Otherwise, he would have a hard time explaining it to Estelle! 

Xavier put down his phone and lit up a cigarette, inhaling the smoke deeply to numb his restless emotions. 

C City 

There were no dazzling city lights in the mountains, making the moon appear even brighter. 

The round moon hung between the mountains and the treetops, its soft glow, like silver light, illuminating the entire courtyard. 

Yesterday, Wade had lanterns hung throughout the yard. When night fell and the lanterns were lit, the festive spirit was even more palpable. 

“The table was laden with assorted fruits and pastries. Jonathan was engaged in conversation with Mr. Jarvis. Estelle and Emily sat under the porch 

chatting, while Kya scampered around the yard, her clear laughter melting hearts. 

Wade had the kitchen warm up some apple cider, and a variety of seafood dishes were prepared. This was their way of celebrating the Festival 

Mr. Jarvis and Jonathan were deep in conversation when Kya, having caught a cicada, ran over to show them her find, exclaiming that she had found a fat black butterfly 

Jonathan’s phone vibrated. It was a video call from Carson. 

Upon answering, he saw Carson in what appeared to be the private room of the Midnight Bar, his handsome face slightly flushed with alcohol. “Jonah, are you coming over tonight?” 

Jonathan chuckled lightly, “Not tonight, I’m in C City” 

“C City?” Carson nodded, “I forgot, you’ve been spending the holiday in C City these past few years.” 

He heard a child’s laughter in the background and asked, smiling, “Is that Kya?” 

At his words, Charlie, who had been looking at his phone behind Carson, immediately looked up. 

Jonathan responded, “Yes, Emily and Kya came along” 

“I thought so!” Carson, phone in hand, walked over to Charlie, “Charlie, Kya’s here! 

Charlie looked indifferent, his gaze falling on the video showing the quaint courtyard where Emily and Estelle could be vaguely seen sitting and chatting under the wooden porch. 

Emily didn’t go home for the holiday, but why was she in C City? 

Of course, her affairs were none of his business! 

His eyes flashed with a hint of coldness as he was about to push Carson away. Suddenly, Kya ran into the frame, her rosy cheeks appearing on the video. and she called out in her childish voice, “Uncle Charlie!” 

Charlie’s hardened heart softened in an instant, a faint smile appearing on his handsome face. “Kya!” 

“I’m here at Mr. Jarvis’ house for the holiday with Mommy. Are you coming?” Kya innocently asked. “It’s so much fun here, there are big fish and a fat black butterfly that can even make sounds!” 

Kya showed the cicada in her hand to Charlie on the screen.
