Kya was supposed to be with Charlie, but in the brief moment he took a call, she was off chasing butterflies and vanished into thin air.

She followed the butterfly into an orchard, happily picking blueberries into her little basket, when she heard someone call out from behind, “Hey, kiddo!”

Kya turned around to see Susanna.

Susanna had been trying to reach Carson with messages, but got no reply, only to discover she'd been blocked. Fuming, she stumbled upon Kya, who was on her own. Just yesterday, because of Kya, Magdalen had played a trick that left Susanna publicly humiliated. Today seemed like a good day for payback.

Kya eyed Susanna warily and turned to run. But she was barely three, and after a few steps, Susanna caught up with her.

Susanna blocked her path, sneering, “Thought you could run, huh? Pretty sly, just like your mom. Born a nobody, yet trying to snag a rich man. Shameless!”

Kya's little face turned red with anger, “Don't talk about my mom!”

“Oh, I just did. What are you gonna do about it?” Susanna poked Kya's forehead, causing her to stumble.

Kya stepped back, looked around, and yelled, “Daddy, Daddy!”

“Don’t you dare scream!” Susanna glared menacingly, threatening her, “Scream again, and I’ll end you!”

“Daddy!”

As Kya dodged and ran, calling out for Charlie, Susanna, fearing Charlie might hear, grabbed Kya, covering her mouth and then went to choke her, “Told you not to yell, or else I’ll choke you to death!”

Kya’s mouth and nose were smothered by Susanna, eyes wide with terror, her delicate neck gripped tight, her little face turning redder by the second.

Holding Kya's neck, Susanna lifted her tiny body, a twisted smile playing on her face, “You little brat, tell me, how did your mom seduce Mr. James?”

“Sweetheart, don’t cry!”

Estelle held her close, noticing the marks on her neck, rage boiling inside her, yet her voice was soothing, “Don’t be scared, Estelle is here now, everything’s okay!”

Kya clung to her, seeking refuge in her embrace, finally finding her voice, “Estelle!”

Estelle felt a surge of compassion, “Does anywhere else hurt?”

Kya, sobbing, struggled to catch her breath, staying silent in her embrace.

Magdalen hurried over from behind, asking anxiously, “What happened, what’s going on?”

Estelle's gaze turned icy upon seeing Susanna, who she had kicked away, her voice cold, “She almost strangled Kya to death!”
