Sophie accidentally knocked her tooth against her glass, causing a slight pang of pain. She frowned and put the glass down.
"Let them sing their hearts out, Sophie. Can you take another look at this for me?" Finn, ever the workaholic, couldn't even put his phone down to relax.
"Sure," Sophie replied, her mind clearly elsewhere.
In the private room, some were belting out tunes, others were sipping on drinks and chatting away. Sophie scrolled through fashion photos on Finn's phone, feeling the buzz of noise around her and growing increasingly agitated. She just couldn't focus.
Finn noticed and asked, "What's on your mind?"
"Nothing!" Sophie realized she had been staring at the same dress design for a solid five minutes and quickly laughed it off. "I really like the cut of this dress. It's quite unique. Could be a hit next season."
"Right? I thought the same," Finn smiled. "And I think this look would be stunning on you. If you modeled for me, the photos would be sensational!"
"Me, a model? Come on, you're joking!" Sophie laughed it off.
Finn insisted, "Why not? Sophie, you're easily a standout in everyone's eyes, a perfect ten in Jason's, at least. Don't sell yourself short!"
Sophie's eyes widened. "A ten in his eyes? Who said that? He's always nitpicking!"
"Jason told us himself!" Finn chuckled. "We were all hanging out, talking about girls, and when we asked him who his perfect ten was, he didn't hesitate to say it was you."
Sophie was incredulous. "What did he say exactly?"
Finn thought for a moment, then recalled, "We were just chatting away, and when we asked Jason about his ideal girl, what did he say again?" He turned to Dean for confirmation.
Dean looked back, smiling. "Jason's exact words were, 'Of course, it's my Sophie.'"
Sophie was stunned. "Really? Are you making this up?"
Sophie headed out, actually intending to make a call. Crystal was probably passed out from drinking, so she called Eileen.
"I just got Crystal settled into her PJs and into bed at her place. I'm heading home now," Eileen said.
"Be careful on your way!" Sophie admonished.
"Don't worry, I will!" Eileen reassured her. "And don't let today's drama get to you. Some people just never change from their school days."
Sophie couldn't help but laugh. "I'm not bothered."
And she truly wasn't. By now, she had already let it go.
Eileen laughed along. "Well, the important thing is, they're the ones stuck in the police station tonight!"
