Old Mr. Quintin glanced up in curiosity. “Who was it then? Don’t tell me it was Estelle?”
Evelyn shook her head. “No, it was Ms. Jarvis. Sylvia. Do you remember her?”
His expression cooled a notch. “Her? She was invited too?”
“I think so. But before the celebration dinner was even over, Ms. Jarvis got into a fight with someone!” Evelyn sighed, a mix of amazement and disapproval in her voice.
“A fight?” Mr. Quintin’s confusion only deepened. “What happened?”
“She went with Mr. Winters. I think the two of them are dating. But then Mr. Farley’s daughter—she likes Mr. Winters too—started saying awful things to Ms. Jarvis!”
Evelyn’s face tightened with indignation. “Honestly, I got mad just listening. She accused Ms. Jarvis of stealing clients by sleeping around and said she came from the wrong kind of family. Even if she dated Mr. Winters, she said, his family would never accept her. She just kept going and going. I guess Ms. Jarvis finally snapped and slapped her. That’s when it all blew up.”
Old Mr. Quintin slammed his teacup onto the table, his voice rising in anger. “Gabriel has hardly been gone a moment, and she’s already found another man? After all Jarvis did for her! What a waste!”
Evelyn hurried to pat his back, trying to calm him. “Grandpa, please don’t get upset. If I’d known you’d react like this, I wouldn’t have told you.”
He waved her off. “No, you did the right thing. Not only should you tell me, I should let Jarvis know too. He ought to see just how poor his judgment was. He even wanted Gab to marry that Sylvia—what was he thinking?”
“Gabriel’s gone, Grandpa,” Evelyn said gently. “Ms. Jarvis dating someone new isn’t really a big deal. I just worry…” She hesitated, dropping her voice. “I worry that when Estelle gets married, Gabriel might come back and fall for her tricks all over again.”
“Absolutely not!” Mr. Quintin scowled, grabbing his phone. “I’m calling Jarvis right now.”
He had Jarvis’s number memorized and began dialing, but when the last digit was pressed, he hesitated.
“Alright, off you go!” he said kindly, waving her away.
When Evelyn had gone, Old Mr. Quintin sat alone in his chair, a storm of irritation and unspoken frustration swirling inside him.

Citadel
After the fall of Triceratops, the remnants of his faction were swiftly dealt with by the combined forces of the Mystoria Federation and Silver Valley. Now, Citadel was as bustling and prosperous as ever on the surface, but beneath that glittering veneer, everything had changed.
As night settled over the city, Citadel was awash in neon and laughter, the streets alive with a familiar energy. Yet, compared to before, there was a new sense of peace and security in the air—subtle, but unmistakable.
