Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 3617

Carson's gaze was as heavy as the night sky. He narrowed his eyes, masking his usual arrogance and sharp edges, and lowered his voice. "Sean Shepherd... you haven't been with him in years. Are you sure you two are even compatible anymore? You were happy when you were with me. Are you really betting everything on him?"

He took a sharp breath of the freezing air and continued. "I'll give you one chance. I can overlook your moment of impulse while I was away. Come back to me now, and we'll pretend none of this ever happened."

Marina stared right into his eyes and let out a mocking laugh. "Aren't you always so proud, Mr. Foster? You never let anyone turn back. I should be honored you're making an exception for me. But we're different. The kind of love I want is absolute. It can't be tainted by anything. We were never on the same path!"

Carson's eyes turned glacial. "Absolute? You spent the night in my bed and rekindled things with your first love the very next day, and you call that absolute?"

"If you wanted pure devotion, you should have kept yourself untouched! Not giving yourself to Freddy, or to me, but waiting endlessly for him!"

"I'm genuinely terrified you might have moaned my name when you slept with him!"

Marina trembled with sheer rage. She swung her hand, aiming a sharp slap at his face.

Carson caught her wrist in an iron grip. His eyes were like bottomless pools of black ice, his breathing ragged. "Now that you've given yourself to me, you can never be untouched again!"

Marina's eyes reddened. A sudden, suffocating wave of despair washed over her. They fundamentally did not understand each other.

Arguing now was utterly pointless.

Disheartened, she ripped her hand away and walked quickly down the hall.

Carson turned to grab her again, but Marina dodged out of reach, her face twisted with disgust and fury. "Don't touch me!"

She backed away, her voice raspy and dripping with loathing. "Yes, I must have been completely out of my mind to sleep with you. I've never regretted anything more in my life! You make me sick, Carson. Do you hear me?"

Carson's expression snapped. A predatory, freezing glare locked onto her, brimming with vengeance and raw anger. "You're going to regret this, Marina!"

Marina's eyes were full of derision. "Nothing could make me regret more than agreeing to be with you in the first place!"
