Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 2615

In the dim light, the man’s features were shadowed and deep. “I’m not walking you.”

Sylvia suddenly remembered the first-floor room she’d seen the maid preparing when she arrived. Realization dawned, and a faint blush crept up her cheeks.

She had completely misread the situation. How embarrassing.

Fortunately, the darkness hid her expression. She forced a smile and turned to enter the villa.

What a terrible smile, the man thought to himself, fighting the urge to walk over and pull the corners of her mouth straight.

They entered the villa one after the other. A young maid came out from the kitchen. “Ms. Jarvis, Mr. Carnes, your rooms are ready. Please let me know if you need anything, or if you’d like a late-night snack.”

“Thank you, we’re fine for now,” Sylvia said. She paused, then turned to Gabriel, who had just walked in behind her. “Does Mr. Carnes need anything?”

Gabriel looked at her. “I need someone to help me with my wound dressing.”

Sylvia turned back to the maid. “In that case, could you please help Mr. Carnes change his dressing?”

The maid, who was only in her early twenties, looked at Gabriel with a shy sparkle in her eyes. “Of course. I’m a certified nursing assistant.”

Gabriel’s face darkened. Without a word, he turned and went into his room.

Sylvia walked to the bar and poured herself a glass of water, taking slow, small sips.

A moment later, the maid returned with a first-aid kit. Sylvia walked over to her. “I’ll take care of it. You can go get some rest.”

The maid gave her a knowing smile and whispered, “You have a crush on Mr. Carnes, don’t you?”

Sylvia raised an eyebrow. “What makes you say that?”

“You can’t hide it when you like someone,” the maid said, her youthful, chatty nature showing through her professional training.

Sylvia forced herself to focus on the wound, but her brow furrowed when she saw the gauze. “You haven’t changed this in days, have you?”

It was clearly the same dressing she had applied, right down to the knot she had tied. She could even see that he had showered; the gauze was water-stained, with faint traces of blood seeping through.

Gabriel remained silent.

A sudden flare of anger rose in Sylvia. Her beautiful eyes flashed with irritation, and her voice turned cold. “Since Mr. Carnes clearly doesn’t care about his own injury, there’s no point in changing the dressing.”

She turned to pack up the kit, knocking over a bottle of antiseptic. It rolled onto the floor, but she picked it up without a change in expression and put it back.

Gabriel’s brow tightened. He reached out and grabbed her wrist. “What’s this attitude for?”

“There’s no attitude,” Sylvia said calmly. “I just realized Mr. Carnes doesn’t need my help. I’m tired, so I’m going to bed.”

“Who said I don’t need it?” Gabriel’s voice was deep and low. He stared at her profile, his gaze unwavering, and said softly, “It’s because I care too much that I don’t know what to do.”
