Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 2617

Suddenly, her phone on the nightstand lit up. She picked it up and saw it was a message from Eugene.

His name on the screen was like a bucket of cold water, instantly snapping her back to reality. She slowly unlocked her phone.

Eugene: [Are you having a good time with your friend? I’ve been thinking about you all day.]

Sylvia propped herself up with a pillow and typed back: [I’m having a great time.]

Eugene: [I wish I could be there with you. I was actually planning to clear my schedule and come find you, but Grandma’s condition has been unstable lately. I can’t leave her right now.]

Sylvia: [I understand. Grandma Winters needs you. Take good care of her.]

Eugene: [Thank you for being so understanding.]

Sylvia: [Of course.]

Eugene: [Why are you being so formal?]

Sylvia sent a smiling emoji. [I drove for a long time today and I’m pretty tired. You should get some sleep too.]

Eugene: [Sweet dreams.]

After putting her phone down, Sylvia felt completely calm. She lay down, closed her eyes, and drifted off to sleep.

...

Despite being in an unfamiliar place, Sylvia slept soundly that night, without a single dream.

When she opened her eyes, the room was already bright. She hadn’t closed the curtains, and sunlight was streaming in, warming the blankets and her face. She blinked, her eyes filled with light.

She checked the time, then got up to wash and get dressed.

When she came downstairs, the maid greeted her with a smile. “Ms. Jarvis, are you ready for breakfast?”

“Yes, thank you.”

Sylvia walked toward the dining room just as Gabriel was coming in from outside.

“Good morning, Mr. Carnes,” she greeted him.

...

After breakfast, Sylvia went to find Grace.

Grace was just getting out of the golf cart, her easel in hand. “Don’t tell me you’re just waking up,” she teased.

Sylvia shrugged. “Not quite. I’ve already had breakfast. Where have you been?”

“I went for a walk in the mountains this morning. The scenery was so beautiful, I lost track of time,” Grace said as she entered the villa and set down her easel. “Unfortunately, it was cloudy, so I didn’t get to see the sunrise.”

“We can try again another day.”

“I’ll take you with me next time. Think you can wake up that early?” Grace asked.

“Of course. If you invite me, I’ll definitely be there.”

They chatted as they walked inside.
