Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 2622

Gabriel let out a short, derisive laugh and set her back on the ground. “I scored,” he said coolly. “What are you so happy about?”

Sylvia was speechless.

She steadied herself and looked at the stunned group of children staring back at her, her face heating up.

Someone snickered, and then the dam broke. The children erupted in a massive wave of laughter, their mouths wide open, their eyes crinkling into thin slits.

Sylvia covered her face with her hands. How utterly mortifying.

Gabriel glanced back. “Come on. I’ll give you a chance to redeem yourself.”

Just then, Jenny and Jonas ran over. Jenny’s math class was next, and Jonas hadn’t left yet. Seeing Sylvia and Gabriel playing with the kids, they had eagerly rushed over to join in.

“My hero! I’m on your team!” Jenny’s voice carried across the field before she even arrived.

“Your number one fan is here,” Sylvia said, her eyes crinkling with amusement.

“And here comes the suck-up,” Gabriel replied, his tone flat.

The game resumed. Sylvia teamed up with Jonas and all the students, while Gabriel was paired with Jenny, who, despite being a girl, was a decent player.

They chased each other across the field, their laughter echoing in the air. Gabriel would occasionally pause, watching Sylvia run and laugh, a warmth spreading through his chest.

Today, he thought, might have made up for some of her regrets.

As class time approached, Gabriel walked over to Sylvia. “Are you going to sit in on the next class?”

“Of course. This is too much fun to miss,” Sylvia said. She looked a little more disheveled than the men, with sweat beading on her forehead and a rosy flush on her cheeks.

“It’s not Jonas’s class next,” Gabriel pointed out.

Sylvia raised an eyebrow. “What does Jonas have to do with it?”

“Huh?” Sylvia blinked, then realized what he meant. “It’s not from me,” she explained. “One of the students passed it back for you.”

Gabriel’s expression soured. “…”

He put his phone down, took the note, and slowly unfolded it.

Sylvia leaned in. “What does it say?”

Written in neat, small script was a single line: “You’re an amazing soccer player. So cool!”

Judging by the handwriting, it was from one of the younger girls.

Sylvia couldn’t help but smile. “Wow, Gab. You’ve already got a fan club.”

He shot her a sideways glance. “If you want to praise me, just say it. If not, don’t. That smile looks awful on you.”
