Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 2670

“Never,” Sylvia snapped, yanking the rope sharply. The masked man let out a muffled grunt of pain.

She loosened her grip slightly. “Let us both go, or you won’t leave here alive.”

Suddenly, the closed door was kicked open, and a blast of cold wind swept into the cabin, making the fire roar and adding a chilling edge to the already tense atmosphere.

A dozen more men stormed in, all raising their weapons to aim at Sylvia and Gabriel.

Gabriel’s brow furrowed.

The leader of the new group was also dressed as a mercenary, his face covered. His eyes were fixed on the masked man. “Knew you couldn’t handle Gab on your own. I was sent to help.”

The masked man let out a cold laugh. “I just underestimated the woman.”

The newcomer turned to Sylvia. “You’re holding one life. That means you only get to trade for one life. Either you walk out of here, or Gab does. You choose.”

The masked man twisted his head slightly to look at her. “Killing me won’t do you any good. Look around. There are too many men, too many guns. If you kill me, neither of you will get out of here alive.”

He laughed, confident in his position. “You have to understand. Only one of you is leaving today. Either you stay, or Gab stays.”

“If you capture me, my people might hesitate,” the masked man continued, gesturing toward the newcomer, “but his people… they won’t give a damn about my life.”

Sylvia took a deep breath and looked at Gabriel, her voice hoarse but steady. “Alright. I’ll stay. Let Gab go.”

Gabriel’s eyes were deep and unreadable as he stared back at her.

A cruel laugh escaped the masked man. “Don’t be so noble just yet. Do you have any idea what will happen to you if you stay? I suggest you think very carefully before you decide.”

“Enough talk,” Sylvia said, tightening the rope again. Her eyes were like chips of ice. “Let him go. Or I’ll send you to meet your maker right now.”

“Fine,” the masked man choked out, then looked at Gabriel. “You can go, Gab.”

The newcomer said nothing, simply stepping aside to clear a path for Gabriel.

“If you leave, you can come back for me. If we both stay, we’ll both die!”

Gabriel’s dark eyes, deep as a starless night, seemed to fill with the mountain rain—sharper, yet clearer than ever.

He resumed walking, his pace steady and unhurried, yet he projected an overwhelming pressure that made the surrounding mercenaries instinctively shrink back.

Sylvia shook her head, helpless and terrified, her pleading gaze trembling. He couldn’t get any closer. His life was more important than hers. She would rather die than see him in danger, rather die than see him humiliated by these men. That would be a fate worse than death itself.

He was her god, her undying faith.

But Gabriel walked right up to her. He reached out, gently took the gun from her hand, and pulled her into his arms. Then, with a single, powerful motion, he kicked the masked man away.

The man stumbled and fell. At that same moment, the mercenaries dropped to one knee, assuming a position of submission unique to their ranks. In unison, their voices thundered through the cabin.

“Gab!”
