The night was impenetrably dark. By the time her mind cleared, the sky was already beginning to pale.

After Estelle Macclain fell asleep, Jonathan Lamont slipped out, closed the door quietly, and walked to the living room balcony before calling Millard.

When the call connected, the man’s voice was as deep and dark as the night. “Have you found out?”

“Yes, I have. I didn’t call last night because I was afraid of disturbing your rest, Mr. Lamont,” Millard explained before continuing. “The Macclain family is trying to make a comeback and has been in talks with an investor from H City. Bennett Macclain told them he was your father-in-law and the father of the designer KING, but it seems they didn't quite believe him.”

Jonathan understood immediately.

Bennett had gone to great lengths to find out Estelle was at 9th Mansion today and showed up with Simone Macclain, hoping to use family sentiment to sway Estelle. His goal was to attend the wedding as her parents.

The Lamont family wedding would undoubtedly attract reporters. If Bennett appeared and made the news, his identity as Estelle’s father would be confirmed, securing him the investment.

He only showed up to pray when he needed something.

Jonathan sneered, a wave of cold fury rising within him. Why, even now, couldn’t the Macclain family just leave Estelle alone?

They were still trying to bleed her dry!

Millard added, “Rest assured, Mr. Lamont. I’ve already made arrangements. Bennett won’t get a single penny of that investment.”

Jonathan gave a slight nod. “Don’t let my wife know about this.”
