Estelle smiled faintly. “You’ll be Jonathan’s groomsman.”
“Since when? How come I don’t know about this?” Xavier frowned. “I refuse!”
Estelle said, “The Hanson family and the Lamont family are old friends. It’s perfectly reasonable for you to be Jonathan’s groomsman.”
Xavier scoffed. “Is Jonathan short on groomsmen? Plenty of people in J City would be lining up for the chance. Even if he’s picky and can’t find anyone suitable here, the people from Mystoria Federation will be arriving soon. He could pick as many as he wants!”
Estelle replied, “I don’t care. You’re my handpicked groomsman. If you don’t want to do it, you can tell Wolf yourself.”
Xavier countered, “Don’t you think it’s more appropriate for me to be on your side of the family?”
Estelle’s gaze was gentle but firm. “I’ve already settled it with Jonathan.”
Xavier frowned. “You’re marrying Jonathan, so Norah Lamont can’t be a bridesmaid. Why are you so insistent on me being a groomsman?”
Estelle retorted, “It’s just being a groomsman. Why are you so resistant? Are you that scared of Norah?”
Xavier fell silent.
Estelle turned to look at Wolf’s photo. “Since he’s not saying anything, I’ll take that as a yes. He’s going to be the groomsman!”
Xavier wore a helpless expression. He lit a cigarette and placed it before the tombstone, then gave Wolf a wry smile.
“I’ll let her have her way this time. Consider it me spoiling her for you, one last time.”
Estelle didn't care what he said, as long as she got what she wanted.
Xavier looked at Estelle and said with a faint smile, “Wolf doted on you the most, you know that, right?”
Estelle sat down on the ground, as if the three of them were chatting together, and slowly nodded. “I know.”
“I remember once, you were sent on a solo mission. Wolf secretly followed you and only came back after making sure you were safe. When Gab found out, he punished him severely.”
Xavier glanced at Wolf’s picture and raised an eyebrow. “He had it rough for a few days. The training was brutal, and at night, his whole body ached so much he couldn’t sleep. Since he couldn’t sleep, he’d wake us all up to chat with him.”
“We’d talk about your mission, about how he was saving up to buy you a candy company after retirement, and about you getting married someday.”
Xavier glanced at his watch. “What time is your flight?”
“Eleven,” Estelle replied.
“Then it’s about time. Let’s head back,” Xavier said, getting to his feet.
Estelle’s phone had been on silent. When she took it out, she saw missed calls and messages from Jonathan. She quickly replied to him.
As they walked away, Estelle couldn’t resist looking back at the heroic smile on Wolf’s face in the photo, and her own lips curved into a smile.
“Wolf, tell Tyrannosaurus, Shadow, and the others that I’m marrying a wonderful man. I’m happy, truly happy. I won’t forget the past, and I’ll take care of myself in the future. You can rest easy.”

Estelle arrived at the airport’s private hangar before eleven. Jonathan was already there waiting for her.
Once on the plane, Estelle took the initiative to hug him, tilting her head up slightly. “Alright, you can go back now. I’ll call you when I land.”
