Hannah froze, her face alternating between red and white, as if she had been slapped in public.
She seemed shocked by Catherine’s sharp words.
Yvonne glanced sideways at her mother, then smiled gently at Catherine. “The courtyard looks lively, and I see a few friends I know. I’ll go say hello.”
Catherine nodded. “Alright, go ahead.”
Yvonne nodded to Janice as well before getting up and leaving.
At that moment, several other ladies approached to congratulate Catherine. Hannah discreetly stepped back, pretending to be absorbed in her tea.

Xavier sat in the study for a while. As more and more guests arrived, he went out to the garden for a smoke.
The garden was filled with people. Even though it wasn't the wedding day, the guests were all formally dressed—the men in suits, the women adorned with jewels, chatting in small groups on the lawn.
That was why Norah, from her upstairs window, spotted the one who stood out immediately.
Black T-shirt, black pants—his usual casual attire. But his tall frame and rugged, untamed aura were exceptionally eye-catching.
In the short time Norah watched him, she saw two or three girls pretend to casually walk past him.
Norah’s lips curved into a smile. *He can try to hide, but he still ended up coming to my house*, she thought.
Her eyes darted around playfully. She picked up her phone and sent him a message: [Are you busy today?]
After sending it, Norah stood by the window and watched him. She saw Xavier pull out his phone and stare at the screen.
Ten seconds, thirty seconds, a minute…
He held the phone in one hand and a cigarette in the other, showing no intention of replying.
Norah bit her lip, fighting the urge to go straight downstairs, walk up to him, and demand to know if he was really cutting ties with her. He wouldn't even reply to her message!
After another ten seconds, WhatsApp chimed. Norah’s heart nearly leaped out of her chest.
She immediately grabbed her phone to read his reply.
Xavier: [Okay.]
Norah’s gaze froze. She stared at the screen, wanting to burn a hole through it.
That’s it?
Nothing more?
She wanted to bang her head against the glass.
She let out a long sigh, expelling her frustration. She told herself that she was the one who fell first, so she deserved the pain. She couldn’t force her feelings on him. She had to be patient, persistent, and determined.

As the plot thicken. Adrian is done for and he can't try to control Norah, so he'd probably tattle to Janice who's gone for two weeks. Thank you soooo much for the updates....
