Estelle stood up on the bed, which made her a head taller than Jonathan as he stood before her. She reached out to take off his suit jacket.
The man looked down at her fair, slender fingers and said with a low chuckle, “I thought I’d have to wait until tonight for this kind of treatment, but I’m enjoying it already.”
Unfazed by his teasing, Estelle simply smiled and continued.
Once the jacket was off, she picked up the robe and helped him into it. It had a slanted collar with traditional knotted buttons, and she fastened each one for him.
She had designed his wedding robe herself. It was a long robe with a slanted collar that fell to just above his knees, made from the same red silk brocade as her gown. In the center was a dragon motif she had asked her master to draw for her.
The gold thread patterns on the sleeves and collar also matched her gown.
Though its cut was different from a traditional robe, everything else coordinated perfectly with her dress.
And it didn’t look out of place with the black suit trousers he was wearing.
After fastening the last button, Estelle stepped back. The man in the wedding robe looked even more handsome and distinguished, exuding an air of noble grace. A smile bloomed on her lips, and her stunning eyes took on the soft pink hue of early spring peach blossoms.
Jonathan reached out, lifted Estelle, and sat her down on the bed. He leaned over her, one arm braced on the mattress, his gaze burning as he spoke in a husky voice, “Magdalen told me not to kiss you, but I can’t help it. What should I do?”
Estelle looked into his eyes, then slipped a hand out from under her skirt. In her palm was a tube of lipstick. “Magdalen prepared this for me.”
Jonathan’s eyes darkened. All hesitation vanished as he cupped her face and lowered his head to kiss her.
He kissed her with an urgent, almost frenzied passion, as if he wanted to devour her whole. The longing that had reached its peak upon seeing her was now finally, overwhelmingly released.

In the courtyard, the groomsmen and bridesmaids were playing games. Guests gathered around, taking pictures, their cheers growing louder with each passing moment as the festive atmosphere soared.
Inside, Jonathan braced himself on the bed with one hand while the other wrapped around Estelle’s waist, supporting her as he deepened the kiss.
A ripple of amusement passed through Estelle’s beautiful eyes. “Mr. Lamont, please control yourself.”
“It’s not Mr. Lamont today. It’s groom. Or husband,” Jonathan chuckled, then noticed a red, carved lacquer box nearby. He reached for it and opened it. Inside, as he expected, was the phoenix coronet he had specially made for her.
He had actually asked Harriet what Estelle would be wearing when she left the house, and Harriet had told him it would be a modern wedding dress. Still, he had the coronet made for her.
He had thought it might not be used, but he never expected to see her wear it after all.
He took it out and placed it gently on her head himself.
The coronet featured a dragon and phoenix intertwined, encrusted with various gemstones, primarily red ones, with brilliant blue details. The design was intricate but not cluttered, sparkling with a golden light that was utterly regal and magnificent.
Next to the box for the coronet was another box. Inside was a pair of shoes, also hand-embroidered with exquisite skill. Every stitch seemed to bring the flowers, birds, and auspicious clouds on them to life.
Jonathan knelt on one knee and put the shoes on Estelle’s feet. Then, he looked up at her, held out his hand, and said, “My bride, shall we?”
