Mr. Jarvis suddenly stood up and smiled kindly at Sylvia Jarvis. "Sylvia, it's getting a bit stuffy in here. Come take a walk with me outside."
"Of course!" Sylvia agreed.
As the two of them walked out, Gabriel also rose. "Mr. Quintin, I'll let you and Georgia chat. I have to step out for a moment."
"Alright," Mr. Quintin acknowledged.
After Gabriel left, Evelyn looked uneasy. "Grandpa, did I say something wrong?"
Mr. Quintin remained silent, but Georgia Quintin’s voice was cold. "Evelyn, don't you think you're rushing things a bit?"
Evelyn's face paled, and she stammered, "I… I don't know what you mean, Mrs. Quintin."
"Your petty schemes only prove your own foolishness," Georgia said icily.
"Georgia Quintin!" Mr. Quintin cut his daughter off.
Georgia sneered at her father. "After all these years, you're still so self-righteous, unable to tell right from wrong!"
"What did Evelyn say that was wrong?" Mr. Quintin retorted. "That Sylvia girl is fickle, dating Gabriel while carrying on with other men."
"Carrying on with other men?" Georgia’s face flushed with anger. "Have you seen it with your own eyes? How can you make such a judgment about a young woman?"
"It's as good as seeing it with my own eyes," Mr. Quintin said gravely. "And let me remind you, Evelyn is your biological daughter. You need to get your priorities straight!"
Georgia stared at Evelyn. "If this is what my daughter is like, I'd rather not acknowledge her!"
With that, she stormed out.
Mr. Quintin was so furious he almost threw the teacup in his hand.
Evelyn quickly patted his back soothingly. "Grandpa, please don't be angry. It's all my fault. I just wanted to apologize to Ms. Jarvis. I didn't expect everyone to get so upset."
His voice was gentle, not accusatory. He softened his tone, careful not to pressure her.
"If you trust me, you can talk to me about it."
Sylvia smiled. "Of course I trust you."
She then explained the whole story with the Winters family, from beginning to end.
"I see," Mr. Jarvis frowned. "And how is your health now?"
"I've fully recovered. I'm fine now," Sylvia said softly.
"That's good to hear." Mr. Jarvis relaxed. "Does Gabriel know that you and Eugene have broken up?"
Sylvia shook her head. "No."
