April frowned. "Will this work? Do you think he'll believe it?"
"It doesn't matter if he believes it or not. The point is to ruin his blind date!" Ula laughed with a vicious cruelty. "Not only will I destroy his reputation among high society, but I'll also get back at the James family for what they did to my family!"
If the vice president of a company was involved in a scandal, the James family's reputation would undoubtedly suffer. It might even affect their stock price tomorrow.
The thought of getting revenge on both Gavin and the James family made Ula even more triumphant.
The group huddled together, whispering and finalizing the details, before getting up and leaving together.
Sallie finally looked up, her mouth full of cheesecake, and watched them go. The urge to right a wrong began to stir within her.
She swallowed the cake, took a large gulp of juice, and stood up to follow them.

Elsewhere, the Porters had indeed arranged a meeting for Gavin. The Porter family was well-off, and the woman his parents had chosen for him was from a similarly prominent family. She had started her own successful company after graduation, and the two families hoped they could support each other in business.
The two families had just met, and the young woman was clearly impressed with Gavin. The atmosphere was pleasant, and it seemed a match was about to be made when a girl in a short blue dress timidly approached them.
"Mr. Porter!"
The conversation quieted. Gavin saw that the girl was speaking to him and smiled. "Excuse me, miss, do we know each other?"
April immediately looked as if she were about to cry. "How can you pretend not to know me? We were together just last night."
Gavin froze, studying the girl.
The family he was meeting also paused, quickly guessing what was happening. Their expressions soured, but they remained silent.
Mr. Porter frowned at his son. "What is this all about?"
But as she turned, she nearly collided with someone else.
Sallie grabbed her by the wrist and looked down at her stomach, exclaiming dramatically, "You're pregnant? How many months?"
April jumped. "Who are you?"
Sallie grinned with a hint of mischief. "Well, if you're pregnant, you should at least tell him how far along you are. What if it's not even his?"
"Who are you? Let me go!" Overcome with guilt, April avoided eye contact and struggled to break free.
Sallie held on tight, then turned to Gavin with a warm smile. "Gavin, I know you'd never do something like this. This woman is just trying to frame you!"
Gavin, who had been relatively calm while being falsely accused, was now genuinely stunned.
