Sophia and Jason came downstairs, and Sophia ran over to Estelle with a happy greeting.
Everyone seemed to be in high spirits today, despite the uncertainty and lingering anxiety.
Jason and Jonathan exchanged greetings and sat down to chat over tea, while Estelle talked with Sophia.
Estelle asked Sophia, “Where's Evelyn?”
Sophia glanced around. “She was here at breakfast, and she seemed to be doing okay. I don't know where she went.”
Old Mr. Quintin looked over. “She’s having a hard time. Let’s not force her. Let her have some time alone to cool down.”
Estelle nodded. It would be more awkward for everyone if Evelyn tried to pretend nothing was wrong. It was better for her to have some space upstairs.
She'll come around eventually.
…
At eight o'clock, Sylvia's phone rang. It was Gabriel, telling her to come downstairs.
A few minutes later, Sylvia got into his car. “Where’s Georgia?”
“She’s going there directly,” Gabriel said, his eyes on the road. “We’ll get some breakfast first, then meet up with her.”
Sylvia said, “I’ve already eaten.”
Gabriel frowned and turned to look at her.
Sylvia met his gaze calmly. “What is it?”
“Nothing,” Gabriel said flatly, pulling the car away from the curb.
There was a breakfast place not far from her building. Sylvia suggested, “The food here is pretty good. You can go eat, and I'll wait in the car.”
The man’s tone was clipped. “I’m not hungry.”
“Aren't you?” Sylvia tilted her head slightly.
“No,” he said, focusing on driving, as if he didn't want to talk to her.
They were again told to come back in four hours for the results.
When they left, Georgia drove her own car back to the Quintin estate, and Gabriel once again took Sylvia home.
Gabriel said, “There's no need for you to come back, Georgia. I'll bring the results to you later.”
Georgia smiled. “Alright, I’ll wait for you at home.”
With that settled, they went their separate ways.
In the car, Gabriel asked Sylvia, “Are you still going to work today?”
Sylvia replied, “I think I'll take the day off. When the results come out at noon, if it’s negative, I’d like to take Georgia out for a meal.”
She turned to look at Gabriel. “Would Mr. Carnes like to join us?”
Gabriel’s eyes swept over her. “In what capacity?”

As the plot thicken. Adrian is done for and he can't try to control Norah, so he'd probably tattle to Janice who's gone for two weeks. Thank you soooo much for the updates....
