“Then let’s eat, let’s eat!” Old Mr. Quintin said, looking at Sylvia with a voice that trembled, likely from happiness.
The maids had already prepared lunch. As everyone moved to the dining room, Georgia held Sylvia’s hand, still unable to calm her emotions.
“So, there’s no such thing as baseless affection in this world. We hit it off right away because we’re connected by blood.”
Sylvia smiled. “Thinking about it now, it’s truly incredible.”
Georgia had her sit down. “Let’s eat first. We need to have a long talk after.”
As they all sat around the table, Old Mr. Quintin asked a maid, “Where’s Evelyn? I haven’t seen her all morning.”
The maid replied, “Miss said she had something to do at her company and left early this morning.”
Gabriel thought of Mrs. Winters at the lab, and a chilling coldness entered his eyes.
Georgia spoke in a cool tone. “What ‘Miss’? Sylvia is my only daughter and my father’s only granddaughter. If other people in this house are called ‘Miss,’ then what is Sylvia?”
The maid was too scared to speak.
Old Mr. Quintin quickly tried to smooth things over. “It’s just an old habit. We’ll change it from now on!”
Georgia said unhappily, “You should have never let her move in in the first place. Now she acts like the mistress of this house. When she finds out Sylvia is my real daughter, who knows how resentful she’ll be!”
Estelle said, “Georgia, I didn’t think this through properly. If you’re going to blame someone, blame me, not Master.”
Jonathan spoke calmly. “What does this have to do with you? You were just trying to be kind. It was Evelyn who took it upon herself to come to Old Mr. Quintin before the test was even done.”
Georgia immediately said, “Estelle, I’m not blaming you. In fact, I’m grateful. If it weren’t for this fortunate mistake, Sylvia and I might not have been reunited.”
Gabriel added, “That’s right. If Estelle hadn’t brought Evelyn here and started this whole search, I never would have known Nana had a birthmark on her back, and I wouldn't have made the connection to Sylvia.”
Sophia said cheerfully, “My room is big. Sylvia can have it.”
Sylvia shook her head. “No need. The place I’m living now is close to my office, which makes my commute easier.”
Georgia said with a gentle smile, “Now that our relationship is confirmed, you should naturally come live with us. We’ve been apart for so long; we shouldn’t be separated any longer.”
“Exactly!” Old Mr. Quintin immediately agreed.
Seeing the expectant looks on their faces, Sylvia had no choice but to nod. “Alright.”
Old Mr. Quintin beamed, picking up his utensils to serve Sylvia some food. “Eat more. Tell your grandfather what you like and what you don’t.”
“Thank you!” Sylvia quickly held up her plate to receive it.
Gabriel watched her slightly reserved manner and couldn’t help but smile faintly.
