Old Mr. Quintin was still lost in his own happiness. When he saw Georgia leaning on him for support—just as she had when she was a child—he was momentarily taken aback. His aged eyes grew misty with emotion, and he raised his hand to gently pat her shoulder.
Nothing more needed to be said. Their feelings were perfectly understood—an unspoken bond that only family could share.

On Wednesday, Sylvia received a call from an old client.
“Ms. Jarvis, I have a favor to ask,” the caller said.
Sylvia replied with a warm smile in her voice, “Of course, Nash. What can I do for you?”
Nash got straight to the point. “Here’s the deal. There’s a major arms manufacturing plant about to be built here in J City. It’s a public-private partnership, and it’s expected to become the top military enterprise in the country. They’re about to enter the open bidding phase, and they’re going to need a whole range of suppliers. Our company’s products are a great fit for this project.”
Sylvia responded, “Nash, your company has both the capability and a solid reputation. This shouldn’t be too challenging for you.”
Nash gave a self-deprecating laugh. “I’m confident in my own business, but I don’t know anything about the people behind this factory. All the other suppliers are working overtime trying to find out more about this mysterious figure running the show.”
“Any leads?” Sylvia asked.
Nash sounded a little pleased with himself. “Luckily, I’ve built pretty solid connections over the years, and I finally have a clue. A few of the big military equipment suppliers have managed to reach this important figure, and tonight they’re hosting a dinner for him at 9th Mansion. I managed to wrangle myself an invitation, so I was hoping to ask if you would join me.”
“Me?” Sylvia said in surprise. “I don’t know this person—what help could I be?”
Nash replied quickly, “Please don’t misunderstand, Ms. Jarvis. I don’t mean anything by it. I’d just like you to come along and help me get a sense of what kind of person this executive really is—you’re the expert at this.”
