Zachary grinned from the side. “Xavier, you're not afraid of cats, are you?”

The others started laughing as well. Xavier shot Zachary a sharp look.

He frowned at Norah. “Why didn’t you just take it home with you? What did you bring it here for?”

Norah giggled. “But this place is Circe’s home too! She hasn’t even met Coco yet!”

Xavier paused, then let out a cold laugh. “Norah, do you think my place is a zoo?”

First Coco, whom she’d picked up before, and now another stray cat—did that make him the zookeeper?

Norah smiled at him, trying to be conciliatory. “It’s not that I wanted to, but Henson Lamont said Estelle is trying to get pregnant, so they can’t have any new pets at home. I couldn’t just keep Circe at the pet hospital forever, could I?”

She narrowed her eyes slyly. “As Henson and Estelle’s friend and comrade, Mr. Flemmings, you can make a little sacrifice for Estelle’s sake, can’t you?”

Xavier replied with a note of mockery, “So you've learned to use a bit of leverage now?”

Norah ignored his teasing and carried Circe off toward the backyard. “I’m taking Circe to meet Coco!”

When Xavier turned around and saw Zachary, Damian, and the others exchanging knowing looks and snickering, his expression darkened even more. “It’s early, and you all have nothing better to do? Get back to work!”

Everyone quickly scattered.

Soon after, staff from the pet store arrived with a three-story wooden cat house, along with a full set of supplies—cat food, litter, toys, everything Circe would need.

Norah directed them to set up the cat house right across from Coco’s kennel.

The handsome wooden structure was nearly as tall as Norah, beautifully designed, and positioned under the fence. It added a playful touch to the whole yard.

Coco gazed blankly at the “high-rise” building popping up across from him, then glanced at Circe nestled in Norah’s arms and let out a couple of jealous whimpers, running over to Xavier for attention.

Xavier crouched beside Coco, stroking his fur as if to say, Don’t worry, you’re still my favorite!
