Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 3001

Emily agreed to help Edwina Edgar Bishop with her workload today.

Charlie heard she was working late and was clearly a bit disappointed, but didn't say much. "I'll pick you up after the banquet," he offered.

"I'm sorry, Charlie," Emily said softly.

"Why are you apologizing to me? Focus on your work," Charlie replied, his voice gentle and indulgent.

"Okay," Emily agreed.

At the James Building.

Charlie hung up the phone and frowned slightly as he looked at the screen.

Emily was always so busy, and they were spending less and less time together. It hardly felt like they were dating at all.

Usually, it was the boyfriend who was busy, leaving the woman feeling insecure, but their situation was completely reversed.

He let out a self-deprecating chuckle. He never thought he'd see the day he'd be the needy one!

Emily ended the call, bit her lip in thought for a moment, then set her phone down and turned back to work.

Before it was time to clock out, she found Edwina Edgar Bishop. "Edwina, I need to head out early. I've finished the first ten pages of the project files, and I'll do the rest at home. I'll send it to you before I go to bed tonight."

Edwina smiled. "Thank you so much, Emily."

"We're a team," Emily smiled back. "I'll get going now!"

"Bye!" Edwina waved.

Emily packed up her things and quickly left the office.

Waters Earwood was wearing a sapphire-blue bodycon dress with a hint of shimmer. It was dazzling and perfectly accentuated her stunning curves.

Her makeup was flawless as she stepped forward with a smile. "Mr. James, what a coincidence!"

Charlie's demeanor remained cool and aloof. He gave a curt nod and continued walking.

"Mr. James!" Waters intercepted him. "I was hoping to ask you for a small favor."

Charlie's tone was flat. "What is it?"

Waters curled her lips into a smile. "My second brother just arrived in J City. My father sent him, probably because he's jealous of how well I'm doing here and wants to take over my power. You of all people know how hard it is for a woman to build everything I have from scratch. But they're coming at me aggressively, and I don't have the backing to fend them off alone. I was hoping you could help me out."

"My brother will be at the banquet tonight. I don't need you to do anything, Mr. James. Just let me walk in with you."

"Since you don't have a plus-one tonight, why not let me take the spot?"
