Ten grand a month!
Caleb had just graduated and was stressing over finding a job that might pay fifty grand a year. Lorelei was getting a fraction of that every single month just to play around with.
The comparison was staggering!
Lorelei's smile grew even more demure. "My dad just spoils me, that's all. He hates seeing me go without."
Sara exchanged a look with Norah. It felt exactly like being back in high school, trying not to laugh at a ridiculous joke while the teacher was talking.
"Where should I put the lobsters?" Lorelei asked again, fishing for more attention.
Sara glanced at the frozen seafood in Lorelei's hands and pointed lazily. "There's a cooler next to the grill. Toss them in there."
"Sure!" Lorelei chirped. She carried her box over, flipped open the cooler, and instantly froze.
Inside lay a batch of incredibly fresh, premium Astorian blue lobsters.
Compared to the vibrant, top-tier catch in the cooler, her frozen Australian lobsters looked like cheap bait.
The reality check hit her hard: she was dealing with real money here. People far wealthier than she was.
Remembering how loudly she had just been bragging, a hot flush of humiliation crept up her neck. But she masked it quickly, dumping her lobsters into the cooler's icy water before strolling back as if nothing had happened.
"I'll handle the grilling later!"
Caleb and his girlfriend, Holly, were taking a road trip before diving into the corporate grind.
Since the two were polite and unassuming, Sara and the others didn't have the heart to chase them away. Everyone circled up, tossing their snacks into a communal pile on the picnic blanket.
Being broke college grads, Caleb and Holly had only brought cheap bread, instant noodles, and basic road-trip snacks.
Caleb offered a bag of gas-station beef jerky to Lorelei. Lorelei took one look at it, her eyes flashing with undisguised disgust. "My family never lets me eat that kind of processed stuff. No thanks."
Caleb awkwardly pulled his hand back, his face burning.

Someone needs to send a new picture of Trevor to Oliver and Luke so that they will get their requested reports to Gonzalez asap. If they didn't know, now they know what awaits them if they continue to disrespect and NOT follow orders....
