The apartment was massive, spanning over two thousand square feet. The sleek, modern design appealed to a younger demographic, yet a single glance at the lavish furnishings revealed an undeniable level of luxury. Paired with a sweeping, wraparound panoramic balcony, the sheer opulence left everyone speechless.
Jenny Jordan grew increasingly certain that Adrian Chambers had rented this place for Norah Lamont.
The real estate agent gave Norah the grand tour. "It's brand new and fully furnished. Every fixture and piece of furniture comes from top-tier international designer brands. Mrs. Lamont had this sofa delivered this morning, mentioning you preferred this specific color and leather. The rug is handcrafted, and the curtains were custom-ordered to match your tastes."
The agent meticulously walked her through every detail.
Finally, the agent produced a folder. "If everything is to your liking, please sign here, Ms. Lamont. Though I work for an agency, this is a lifetime service agreement. You can contact me anytime you need assistance." She offered a warm smile. "Even if it's one in the morning, I guarantee I'll be on call."
Norah was more than satisfied. "Thank you. Though I'll only be staying here for a month."
The agent chuckled. "You're always welcome to crash here whenever you're working late. The building's security is top-notch, and as you've seen, the amenities are unmatched. We have a private gym, a library, and a twenty-four-hour restaurant right in the complex."
Norah signed the paperwork. "Perfect."
Adrian returned from inspecting the rooms. "Your grandmother picked a great spot. The view from the balcony is spectacular, and everything's ready to go. You could move in tonight."
Jenny probed cautiously, "Norah, did your family buy this place for you?"
Norah smiled. "My grandmother picked it out!"
"But Mrs. Lamont said you paid for it yourself," Adrian chimed in.
"Of course," Norah said matter-of-factly. "I wanted my independence, so naturally, it came out of my own pocket."
Norah wasn't staying over that night. Once the tour ended and the paperwork was filed, they headed for the door. Adrian glanced at the unit across the hall and grinned at Norah. "Maybe I should buy the place next door. We could be neighbors."
Norah's eyes crinkled in amusement. "Hard pass. Whenever I look at you, I feel like I'm at the office. If you lived next door, I'd feel like I was on the clock twenty-four seven."
Adrian laughed, his handsome features relaxing into an easy charm. "Don't make me sound like some corporate tyrant."
Overhearing their banter, the agent sighed apologetically. "Unfortunately, that unit is already spoken for. The buyer signed the contract and paid in cash just yesterday. Quite a coincidence that it happened on the same day as your purchase, Ms. Lamont!"
Norah glanced back at the neighboring door, a flicker of curiosity crossing her mind about who her new neighbor might be. The idea of living on her own was starting to feel incredibly refreshing.
The elevator arrived, seamlessly cutting their conversation short as they stepped inside.
