Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 3223

She worked three hours of overtime. By the time she finished, the sky was pitch black, but knowing she was less than a ten-minute walk from home brought a surge of happiness that washed away the exhaustion of a grueling workday.

Arriving on the twenty-seventh floor, Norah noticed the door to the neighboring unit was cracked open.

She was a little curious about her new neighbor but decided against intruding uninvited.

Walking into her own apartment, she kicked off her shoes and padded barefoot into the living room. Dropping onto the massive, plush sofa, she let herself sink into the cushions. It felt absolutely amazing.

But before she could fully bask in the comfort, her stomach began to rumble.

She had only eaten a few crackers before her overtime shift, and now she was practically starving.

Getting up, she headed to the kitchen and opened the fridge. It was fully stocked with gourmet prepped meals and jars of organic bone broth.

She scanned the options her grandmother had prepared for her: black pepper pork chops, tomato beef, marinated wings... The rest were various high-end nutritional soups.

Just then, Janice initiated a video call, asking how she was settling into the new place.

On the screen, both Janice and Catherine were smiling, clearly curious about her living independently.

Catherine, in particular, couldn't stop beaming at the camera. Anyone else might think she was just happy Norah had moved out, but Norah knew the truth—it was because Estelle was pregnant. Her grandmother had worn that exact expression for the past two days.

Holding up a package of pork chops, Norah asked the family's private chef how to prepare it. The chef instructed her to use a frying pan, walking her through turning on the stove and adding oil.

"Got it. I'm hanging up!" Norah said.

Janice took the phone back. "Do you really get it?"

"It's so simple, of course I get it. I'm starving, so I'm going to cook now. We'll talk after I eat!"

Norah hung up in a flurry and set to work on her very first solo cooking venture. She was riding high on enthusiasm, even feeling a little thrilled.

Following the chef's instructions, she turned on the burner and accurately selected the frying pan from the assortment of cookware, placing it on the stove.

Tossing the pork chops in, Norah mentally patted herself on the back.

"It's your fault for talking my ear off! The meat I was frying burned to a crisp," Norah huffed angrily.

Adrian immediately asked, "Did you burn yourself?"

Norah glanced at her reddened fingers. Afraid he would make a big deal out of it, she endured the sting and lied, "No."

Adrian let out a laugh. "As long as you're okay, the meat doesn't matter. You haven't eaten yet? Let me order you some delivery. Don't try cooking anymore, you'll end up burning the whole kitchen down."

Norah blew a frustrated breath at her bangs. "I'll order it myself. Hurry back to your dinner, you don't want to be rude to such important clients."

Adrian smiled. "I'll come over and cook for you tomorrow."

"We'll talk about tomorrow, tomorrow."

Norah hung up and returned to the living room. Just as she was about to pull up a delivery app, a knock echoed from the front door.
