The day flew by. Just like usual, she stayed late to work overtime with her department.
Norah loved her job and never complained about staying late. But today, she kept checking the time. Watching the sky slowly darken outside, she actually found the wait a little agonizing.
She must really be missing Circe!
When she finally finished her work and could head home, she couldn't wait another second.
Adrian Chambers walked over and handed her a thermal container. Inside was Ginseng Chicken Soup. "My mom dropped this off this afternoon. Have it for dinner tonight."
Norah pushed it back. "Your mom brought this for you. How could I take it?"
"What's mine is yours." Adrian joked, his handsome features relaxed. "I'm messing with you. My mom actually brought two portions, and this one is specifically for you. I was just too busy this afternoon to bring it over."
Norah finally accepted it. "Thank her for me."
"No need to be so polite." With his gold-rimmed glasses on for work, Adrian looked even more refined and striking. "Make sure you actually eat it when you get home."
"I know!" Norah waved. "I'm heading out."
Adrian watched her light, eager footsteps, a smile reaching his eyes.
Jenny Jordan had been covertly watching from the sidelines. Seeing Norah leave, she immediately grabbed her purse and hurried over. "Mr. Chambers, I didn't drive today. Could you give me a ride on your way home?"
Adrian's expression cooled instantly. "Didn't you rent a place right nearby?"
"Oh?" Jenny froze but recovered quickly. "My mom said she needed me for something, so I have to go to her place today!"
Adrian's attitude was now completely distant. "I have things to do. Take a cab. Since you worked late, you can expense the fare."
With that, he turned and went back into his office.
Jenny stood there in awkward silence. Noticing a few passing colleagues whispering and looking at her, her expression turned even uglier before she spun on her heel and hurried away.

Thank you so much for the updates today. Now that Yvonne knows that Gonzalez has established who's really in charge of the Hansen house hold she and her mother are treading carefully. It will be interesting to see how Jenny will get the information to see if Adrian is paying for Norah....
