Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 3237

"Are you running a fever?" He reached out to check her forehead.

Norah was just about to say she was fine when she felt his large, warm palm resting against her skin. The intimate contact startled her into absolute stillness.

"You're fine. No fever," he murmured, dropping his hand. His movements and tone were entirely natural. "It's supposed to rain over the next couple of days, and the temperature is going to drop. Make sure you bundle up on your way to work."

"Okay," she replied softly.

"You should head back." Seeing the lingering awkwardness on her face, he offered an easy, reassuring smile. "A sneeze is like catching feelings for someone—completely uncontrollable. Don't beat yourself up over it."

He casually began packing up his books. "What do you want for breakfast tomorrow?"

His calm demeanor helped Norah relax. Pushing the embarrassing little mishap aside, she smiled. "I want the red bean pudding cake from the restaurant across the street. And cheese shumai."

Gonzalez chuckled softly. "You got it. Head back and get some sleep. I'll bring it over first thing in the morning."

Norah stood up. "I'll head out then. Get some rest too, Gonzalez!"

Circe woke up, blinking sleepily, and let out a soft, reluctant meow when she realized Norah was leaving.

"Be a good girl. Go back to sleep. I'll see you tomorrow!" Norah gently patted the cat's head, her voice bright and melodic.

After saying goodbye to Circe, she smiled at Gonzalez and slipped out the door, heading to her own apartment.

Gonzalez didn't walk her out this time.

Sitting down was manageable, but standing up in such close proximity would have made the tension unbearable.

He was afraid he'd spook her so badly she'd never step foot in his place again.

Once the door clicked shut, he let out a heavy breath. He grabbed his bottle of ice water and downed half of it, waiting for the burning heat in his veins to slowly subside.

Thinking back to how thoroughly flustered she had been, he couldn't help but smile.
