Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 3239

"He turned me down, obviously," Sara said, flashing a frustrated grimace. "Told me he wasn't interested and asked me to stop contacting him. When I asked him why, he said there was already someone he liked."

Norah looked down at Circe, immediately recalling the story he had told her about the girl who had a crush on him, only to walk out of his life.

Sara scoffed softly. "Honestly, I think he was just making excuses to get me to back off."

"So what are you going to do?" Norah asked.

"Move on," Sara laughed, a breezy, unbothered sound. "I'd just be pathetic if I kept pestering him. After all, he's practically from another generation. I should keep my dignity. There are plenty of fish in the sea. I'm not going to cry over one guy!"

Norah admired her friend's pragmatism. "I'm glad you're looking at it that way."

She hesitated, wondering if she should confess that Gonzalez lived right next door, but Sara beat her to the punch, dropping her voice to a whisper. "Norah, have you noticed Khloe is totally into Adrian?"

Norah gasped in genuine surprise. "What?"

"I knew you hadn't caught on!" Sara threw a sidelong glance toward the dining room, watching Khloe eagerly chatting with Adrian. "I really don't think Adrian is interested in her. Should I step in and say something?"

Norah smiled. "You can't really intervene when it comes to feelings. If they hit it off, it's not impossible!"

Sara gave Norah a deeply conflicted look. Knowing Adrian hadn't confessed his own feelings to Norah yet, she bit her tongue.

But Khloe knew exactly how Adrian felt about Norah. Sara had a sinking feeling this was going to end in a disaster.

Inside, Adrian was casually replying to Khloe when a text from an unknown number popped up on his screen.

*[Mr. Chambers, there's something you should know. Jenny Jordan frequently trash-talks Norah behind her back to the other employees. When Jenny went with Norah to look at apartments, she secretly roped the others into coming along. She assumed Norah couldn't afford a nice place and wanted everyone there to laugh at her.]*

As he frowned at the screen, a second message chimed in.

*[I just couldn't stand watching her act so two-faced, which is why I'm telling you. You don't need to know who I am, as long as you know the truth.]*

Adrian stared at the texts, his eyes darkening with cold realization.
