Her ringing phone interrupted her thoughts. She checked the screen—it was Sara.

"Hey, Princess Norah, what time are you off today?" Sara's cheerful voice rang through the speaker. "Let's go shopping tonight. I've been working overtime for two straight weeks, and I finally have a night to breathe."

It seemed everyone was swamped lately.

Norah laughed. "I can't tonight. I'm grabbing dinner with my coworkers to celebrate my promotion!"

"Oh right, I haven't even congratulated you yet!" Sara said excitedly.

An idea flashed through Norah's mind. "Why don't you come with us tonight?"

"Is that appropriate?" Sara hesitated.

"Why wouldn't it be? You know Adrian anyway!"

"Alright!" Sara agreed without missing a beat. "Text me the time and place. I'm clocking out right now."

"Will do!"

Norah hung up and forwarded the dinner details to her friend.

Sara briefly considered inviting Khloe, but remembering Adrian would be there, she decided against it.

By six o'clock, the group arrived at the restaurant.

Since Norah was officially part of the marketing department now, her new coworkers Jenny Jordan and Gillian York tagged along.

One of the male colleagues, Zane Bradley, walked up carrying a bouquet of red roses. "Norah, welcome to the department. I'll do everything in my power to support your work moving forward!"

Zane was an old college classmate of Adrian's and had been helping him out ever since Adrian took over the company. He was currently the Deputy Manager of Marketing.

Given his connection to Adrian and the fact that he was technically Norah's upperclassman from university, their dynamic was naturally friendlier than the average coworkers'.

She lazily flipped the box open. She stared at the expensive necklace with zero interest. "I still prefer flowers."

Zane instantly clarified, "Mr. Chambers actually bought that bouquet. He just asked me to hand it to Norah for him."

Her jealousy spiked violently at the clarification. She snapped the jewelry box shut, shoved it back at Zane, and sneered, "I didn't realize you were so eager to play delivery boy, Manager Bradley."

Zane wasn't stupid. He knew exactly who Jenny had a crush on. But he was a glutton for punishment and was hopelessly drawn to her fiery attitude.

He dropped a meaningful hint. "Mr. Chambers clearly likes Norah. It's only a matter of time before they make it official. I'm just doing my good deed for the day."

Jenny bit her lip hard. "Did Mr. Chambers personally tell you he likes her?"

"Does he need to? Everyone with eyes can see it," Zane stated matter-of-factly.

"If he liked her, he would've asked her out ages ago," Jenny shot back resentfully. "You're all just making up rumors!"
