"Nothing. It might just be a misunderstanding," Norah mumbled.

"If she's still holding onto feelings for me, I can talk to her again. I'll just tell her directly that you're the one I want," Gonzalez said firmly.

Norah froze. A soft flush crept up her neck, making her luminous skin look even more radiant. "Who said you could tell her that?" she muttered defensively.

Ever since they agreed to just be friends, things had been fairly normal between them. But hearing him state his feelings so effortlessly left her completely disarmed.

"I can't tell the truth?" Gonzalez challenged.

Norah tried to look stern. "It has nothing to do with me. If you don't like her, just make it clear. Don't string her along."

Gonzalez frowned. "Do I look like the type to do that?"

Norah dropped her gaze. She was starting to realize Khloe had probably twisted the facts in her own head. The three of them desperately needed to sit down and hash this out.

Gonzalez softened his voice. "You didn't even go home to change. Did you rush over here just to ask me about that?"

"Why else would I be here?" she huffed.

The man's dark eyes locked onto hers, his voice dropping to a low, seductive gravel. "I thought maybe you missed me."

Her heart did a wild flip against her ribs, and a furious blush stained her cheeks. Mimicking Sara's earlier outburst, she snapped, "Are you ever going to stop, Gonzalez? Keep this up, and I'm never coming over again!"

A faint smirk played on his lips as he held up his hands in surrender. "I'll try my best to control myself."

His teasing smile only sent her pulse racing faster. She gently set Circe down and bolted to her feet. "I'm going home."

"No tutoring today?" he asked.

"No!" she shot back, walking out without giving him a single glance.

Gonzalez followed her to the door. When she pulled it shut behind her, still refusing to look at him, he ran his tongue over his teeth, feeling entirely amused and helpless.
