Hannah's eyes shone with flirtatious intent as she played hard to get. "No, I can only stay out for an hour."
"I've missed you to death," Trevor murmured, his hands already working the zipper on Hannah's dress. "I have guys watching the door. No one's coming in."
...
That morning, Norah headed to the Hanson Corporation to officially sign the contract. By the afternoon, she was sitting in on a senior management meeting back at her own company. However, the moment she returned to the marketing department, she noticed her colleagues looking at her with strange, lingering glances. Whenever she turned to meet their eyes, they would instantly plaster on excessively polite and professional smiles.
Sensing something was off, Norah grabbed a folder containing the ClearSource proposal and went to find Adrian Chambers.
When she pushed open his office door, Adrian was glued to his phone. The second he saw her, he instinctively slammed it face-down on his desk.
"What happened?" Norah asked, her voice crisp and direct.
"Nothing," Adrian said entirely too fast. "Is that the ClearSource proposal? Let me take a look."
A look of absolute stubbornness settled over Norah's stunning features. "Show me the phone."
Left with no other choice, Adrian reluctantly unlocked his screen and handed the phone over to her.
It was a series of photos of her and Gonzalez.
There were shots of them eating together at a restaurant, followed by a couple of photos of them walking into the same residential complex.
It was from the night they had gotten Y City cuisine.
Adrian's face darkened. "Someone mass-emailed these photos to the entire marketing department, claiming you secured the Hanson Corporation contract because you're having an... improper relationship with Gonzalez."
Norah scanned the email. The sender accused her of seducing the CEO of the Hanson Corporation, Gonzalez, to win the project, calling her shameless and claiming she was ruining the industry's integrity.
The wording was exceptionally vicious.
Norah ground her teeth, but she quickly forced herself to remain calm. "Can you trace the IP address of the sender?"
"We're looking into it right now," Adrian replied. "It could be an inside job, or it could be someone from Vichy trying to sabotage us. But we will find out who did it. Fortunately, it hasn't blown up outside the company yet. It's just an internal rumor for now. I've already issued a strict directive ordering everyone who received the email to delete the photos immediately. Anyone caught discussing or spreading the rumor will be penalized."
