Norah's eyes crinkled into a smile. "That's right, and I took great care of you. You're welcome!"
Gonzalez was silent for a beat.
He pushed off the doorframe and stepped toward her. His towering height brought an immediate, suffocating sense of pressure, forcing Norah to instinctively back up.
"Norah, how long are you going to keep hiding?" Gonzalez demanded.
Norah feigned innocence. "Hiding from what?"
"Last night, while I was sick, you kissed me, touched me, and completely took advantage of me. Have you conveniently forgotten?"
Norah was utterly speechless.
Gonzalez closed the distance between them. "You like me. Why won't you admit it?"
Her back hit her own front door. She tilted her head up to glare at the man, irritation flashing in her eyes. "If I had known you were going to twist the truth like this, I never would have taken pity on you last night!"
"Pity?" The man raised an eyebrow.
"What else would it be? Uncle Gonzalez!" Norah let out a sharp scoff. She shoved him out of the way and marched briskly down the hall without looking back. Only her mocking voice echoed behind her. "Remember to take your meds when you're sick. Don't let the fever make you delirious."
The girl hopped onto the elevator and disappeared.
Gonzalez stood alone in the hallway, his frown deepening by the second.

At ten o'clock that morning, inside a private club in J City.
Hannah Hanson strode in gracefully, wearing a wide-brimmed French hat and a stylish scarf.
Pushing open the door to a private room, she spotted the man waiting inside. She pulled off her hat, revealing a deeply cold expression. "There are a lot of eyes on you at the company right now. Why are we meeting at a time like this?"
Hannah's chest heaved, a thrill rushing through her. "I'll wire the money to you tomorrow."
That was enough to satisfy Trevor, though a dark glint still lingered in his eyes. "You never should have let Gonzalez come back. If he hadn't, Simon would still be rotting in bed, and the company would be completely ours by now!"
Hannah clicked her tongue in annoyance. "It's not like I'm the one who brought him back! Do you think Simon is an idiot? The moment his health failed, he was always going to find a way to drag his son back here."
"That bastard ruined my career. You have to help me get revenge!" Trevor snarled viciously.
Hannah hated Gonzalez just as much. She narrowed her eyes, a toxic, malicious gleam flashing in them. "Just wait. I'm going to make sure he's completely banished from J City very soon."
Trevor looked surprised. "You have a plan?"
Hannah tapped a perfectly manicured finger against the man's cheek, exuding absolute confidence. "Relax. Everything is completely under my control."
"Once Gonzalez is gone and Simon is nothing but a cripple, I'll have all the time in the world to serve you properly," Trevor said with a sleazy leer, leaning forward to press Hannah against the back of the sofa.
