Yvonne's impassioned and tearful plea struck a chord. Looking at the daughter he had cherished and spoiled for over two decades, Simon's violent rage slowly began to simmer down.

Norah and Gonzalez exchanged a loaded glance. They knew they had to finish Hannah and Yvonne off tonight. They couldn't afford to give these women even a sliver of a chance to bounce back.

Just as Norah opened her mouth to speak, the lounge door swung open. A group of police officers stepped inside. They took in the chaotic state of the room with mild surprise before quickly returning to business. "Which one of you is Hannah Hanson?"

Hannah was still slumped on the floor, her face streaked with tears and blood. She looked up in absolute panic. "I am. What is it?"

"We suspect you are involved in a kidnapping case. We need you to come down to the station with us," the lead officer stated sternly.

Hannah froze. "Kidnapping?"

Yvonne's heart slammed against her ribs. Why were the police here? She had specifically ordered Sonny Quayle to threaten Mrs. Atkins' family into silence, and the thugs she sent to watch their house had confirmed there was no police involvement.

What the hell was going on?

Norah let out a soft sigh of relief. The inevitable had finally caught up. She refused to believe Hannah and Yvonne could slither their way out of this one.

Simon looked equally shocked. "What kidnapping case?"

The officer maintained a professional politeness with him. "Mr. Hanson, your wife is implicated in a kidnapping. We need to take her in for questioning. Thank you for your cooperation."

Simon turned his chilling gaze back to Hannah. "What other twisted things have you done behind my back?"

Hannah was pale as a ghost, her mouth opening and closing as she failed to form a single word.

"Let's all go," Gonzalez intervened smoothly. "Didn't Yvonne just remind us that we're family? If someone in the family is in legal trouble, we should all be there to support them."

Yvonne's stomach tied itself in knots. A suffocating sense of dread washed over her.

She had originally planned to fly to M Country first thing tomorrow morning after the banquet, using a movie shoot as her alibi to distance herself from the Mrs. Atkins situation. She was going to let Hannah handle getting the family out of J City.

By the time she returned, Gonzalez would have been permanently exiled, everything would be settled, and she would be the undisputed sole heir to the Hanson empire.
