Hannah immediately scrambled over to catch him. "Simon!"

Simon stumbled but managed to regain his balance, forcefully shoving her away. He roared hoarsely, "Get away from me, you vicious bitch!"

Hannah was thrown hard against the doorframe just as the door swung open. Yvonne walked in, freezing in shock at the chaotic scene. "What happened?"

Simon pointed a trembling finger at Hannah, his eyes bloodshot with rage. "Ask your mother! Ask her what she's done!"

Yvonne's heart plummeted at the sight of Simon's fury. Assuming their plot to frame Gonzalez had been exposed, she feigned innocence. "Mom, what's wrong?"

Hannah could only cover her face and sob hysterically.

Simon suddenly locked his piercing gaze on Yvonne before turning back to Hannah. "Tell me the truth right now. Is Yvonne my daughter?"

"Yes!" Hannah nodded frantically. "Yvonne is your daughter, absolutely! There is no doubt!"

"You'd better be telling me the truth. If I get a DNA test and find out you lied, I'll strangle you with my bare hands!" Simon spat with unbridled hatred.

"It's true! I swear on my life! If I'm lying to you, may I be struck dead!" Hannah wailed.

Yvonne realized with a sickening jolt that this wasn't about Gonzalez at all—this was about her.

She turned her head and saw Trevor slumped on the sofa, brutally beaten. The pieces rapidly clicked into place. All the color drained from her face, and she shook her head in sheer disbelief.

Hannah crawled desperately toward Simon, grabbing his pant leg. "Simon, I may have betrayed you, but Yvonne is truly your daughter. She's so outstanding, and you've always adored her. For Yvonne's sake, please forgive me this once!"

She crouched down frantically beside Hannah, grabbing her arm. "Mom, you just made a mistake, right? You still love Dad. You took such great care of him and managed the Hanson family all these years. How could you not love him? Hurry up and apologize!"

Taking the cue, Hannah clung to Simon's leg, pleading desperately through her tears.

"Simon, Trevor is spouting nonsense! I never dated anyone else when I was with you, you know that better than anyone! I left J City the moment I found out I was pregnant. I never even saw your wife. You were the one who brought us back later. I've devoted myself to you all these years. Even if I haven't done everything right, I've worked so hard for this family. Please forgive me just this once. I truly know I was wrong!"

Yvonne pleaded alongside her. "Dad, tonight is the company's celebration banquet. Let's talk about our private matters at home, okay? Mom made a mistake, and I won't beg for mercy no matter how you punish her behind closed doors. But for the sake of the Hanson Corporation's stock and your reputation, we can't make a scene here. Right?"

"I'm not making excuses for Mom. We can do a paternity test the second we get home. If I'm not your daughter, I'll pack my bags and leave the Hanson family immediately. But I will always remember how you raised me, and I will always view you as my only father!"

"Dad, I'm innocent in all of this. I didn't know anything. I'm only speaking out of concern for you and the company. Please, just calm down, okay? At least for right now, we're still a family!"
