Sara shot him a knowing look. Adrian looked a bit embarrassed.

By 10:00 PM, they all left the restaurant and headed their separate ways.

Sara waved to Norah as she climbed into Gonzalez's car.

Adrian had downed far too much alcohol and was stumbling. Khloe hovered nearby, trying to help him. Seeing that, Sara simply turned and walked toward her own car.

But the second she climbed into the passenger seat and her designated driver started the engine, the back door suddenly opened. Adrian hauled himself into the backseat. He slumped against the leather, eyes shut. "I don't want to go home. Take me to your place."

Sara frowned. "Where's Khloe?"

"I had my driver take her home," Adrian mumbled without opening his eyes.

Sara let out a sarcastic laugh. "Aren't you quite the gentleman? You'd rather squeeze into someone else's ride just so a pretty girl can have yours all to herself."

Adrian cracked an eye open and glared at her. "I was trying to get away from her. Are you blind?"

Sara's tone flattened. "If you're not interested, you need to be direct. Stop leading her on, only to crush her later."

Adrian just grunted in response.

Sara's phone buzzed with a text from Norah:

"Adrian drank way too much. Keep an eye on him for me."

Great.

She had her official orders now. Looked like she was stuck babysitting whether she liked it or not.

Back at her apartment, Sara shoved Adrian onto the couch and brewed him some hangover tea. "Are you crashing here tonight? Let me make up the guest room for you."

Adrian waved the tea away. "Forget the tea. Do you have any actual booze?"

"Mr. Chambers, you've already had more than enough," Sara warned.

"I need to be blacked out to sleep. Otherwise, I'll be awake all night."

Adrian was completely speechless.

He couldn't help but laugh. "You can sleep with someone you don't even like? Doesn't that disgust you?"

Sara didn't answer.

Adrian walked over and sat down beside her on the balcony floor. "So what's the real story with this Gwenyth Harmon girl that Khloe brought up? Spill."

Sara shot him a look, then stared out at the dark city. "There's nothing to spill. I've practically forgotten about it."

"No you haven't," Adrian said with absolute certainty. "You know every single detail about my pathetic life. Why do you get to play mysterious?"

Sara scoffed. "So you're trying to rip open my old wounds just to make yourself feel better?"

Adrian nodded shamelessly and clinked his invisible glass against hers. "Exactly. Make yourself sound miserable, and I guarantee I'll feel a hell of a lot better."

Sara just stared at him.
