Weekend, Villa del Sol.
Estelle Macclain took a one-hour afternoon nap. When she woke up, her phone was flooded with messages from Jonathan Lamont.
Jonathan had gone on a business trip yesterday and was scheduled to return tonight. It had only been one night, but the man acted as if he had been gone for months, asking about every microscopic detail of her day.
She replied to him, ate half a bowl of bird's nest soup that Wilma had just prepared, and went to the study to work on her design sketches.
She had barely sat down when Wilma brought in a plate of pastries. "Ma'am, please eat a little more. If the young master comes back and sees you've lost weight, he'll be heartbroken."
Estelle was speechless. "He left yesterday. He's coming back today!" she pointed out.
Wilma smiled affectionately. "The young master has already called me seven times since yesterday!"
Estelle had nothing to say to that.
Wilma looked at her with concern. "I can't blame him for worrying. You really are too thin! You're already over five months along, and no one can even tell!"
Estelle's figure remained incredibly slender; only her face had filled out slightly. Wearing a loose, flowing dress, it was completely impossible to tell she was over five months pregnant when she was sitting down.
Estelle gently touched her stomach, smiling casually. "The doctor said as long as the baby is healthy, it's fine. My weight doesn't really affect the baby."
Wilma still firmly believed Estelle needed to gain more weight. "What would you like for dinner, ma'am?"
"I just had the soup, so I'm not hungry yet," Estelle replied. "I'll let you know when I am."
Wilma smiled and nodded. "Alright."
The moment Wilma left, Max and Milo trotted into the study. They gently tugged at her dress with their teeth, not daring to pull too hard, wiggling their bodies and begging for attention.
Estelle had no choice but to close her sketchbook and take the two dogs for a walk up the mountain.
Knowing she was heading out, Wilma had her long puffer coat ready and thoroughly wrapped a scarf around Estelle's neck, ensuring she was completely bundled up before letting her step out the door.
