Half an hour later, Marina signed her name on the contract. The feeling of being duped grew stronger. She had just come here to pick up a sketchbook—how did she accidentally buy an entire apartment?

While the agent went to the study to make photocopies, Marina eyed Carson suspiciously. "You didn't murder someone and hide the body in here, did you?"

Carson, who had been drinking water, choked slightly. He grabbed a tissue to dab his mouth before chuckling. "You're overthinking it. I want to sell, you want to buy. Signing the paperwork quickly works perfectly. Or did you actually want to drag this out, schedule a few more dates with me, and sign it later?"

"Absolutely not," Marina shot back instantly.

Carson nodded. "We're both busy people. What's wrong with being efficient?"

His logic was airtight. Marina had no rebuttal.

The sun was almost fully set. Marina looked out the window and suddenly recalled waking up here one evening. She had assumed back then that the agent had brought Carson to see the place at dusk, and that he had bought it purely for the sunset over the river.

She never expected she'd end up doing the exact same thing!

Once the paperwork was signed, the agent mentioned there were a few more formalities to handle and promised to call them to schedule.

The agent was ecstatic—this was the fastest property sale of her entire career!

After seeing the agent out, it was time for Marina to leave too.

Carson walked her to the door. "You should still have your keys. The place is yours now, you can move in whenever. I won't be coming back."

Marina nodded coolly. "I know."

It was only when she was sitting in her car, the crisp night air blowing in through the cracked window, that she fully grasped the sheer impulsive insanity of what she had just done.

And she felt even more annoyed at herself for doing it.
