Chapter 440

Charlie instructed Carson to take Yvonne back, and then he drove to the police station.

On the way, Jonathan called Charlie and asked him how things were going at the police station.

Charlie said, “The evidence is solid, and Nora’s family has no reason to refute it. Robert has already gone back, and the parents of the other guys are now negotiating at the police station. My company’s legal team has also arrived at the police station. You tell Estelle to rest assured and get some rest. I started this whole mess, and I’ll make it right for Emily!”

Jonathan responded with a hum and hung up the phone.

He turned to look at Estelle who was sitting in the passenger seat. With one hand on the steering wheel and the other reaching for her hand, he said, “Don’t worry. Emily just needs to rest for a few days to recover. Charlie has already paid all the hospital expenses, so the Sullivan family won’t be troubled. Nora and the others will be punished.”

Nora will not have the chance to work in the judiciary anymore. What she should be thinking about now is how many years she’ll have to spend in prison.

Estelle nodded.

Jonathan tightened his grip on Estelle’s hand, his gaze filled with intensity as he spoke. “Are you still scared? You know, when I saw Emily in that state, I couldn’t help but imagine what I would do if something like that happened to you. I might have even taken matters into my own hands and exacted revenge on those individuals right then and there.”

Estelle turned her head to meet his gaze, reaching out to hold his hand in return. She whispered softly, “I can protect myself. I won’t let something like that happen to me.”

Jonathan returned her gaze, curiosity in his eyes. “Who taught you fighting skills? Today, when you sent that man flying with a single strike, everyone in the room was astonished.”

Estelle looked down, her voice filled with a hint of sadness. “I learned from my brother.”

Jonathan thought for a moment and asked, “The cousin you mentioned before?”

Estelle nodded.

“Then your brother must be a very powerful person!” Jonathan deliberately spoke in a light–hearted tone, hoping Estelle would also relax a bit.

Jonathan embraced her from behind, his cool scent enveloping her. He kissed her shoulder gently, his hand beginning to explore further.

Jonathan held her tightly, resting his forehead against her neck without making any sudden movements. As Estelle drifted towards slumber, she heard his soft whisper, “Why don’t you ask me about Yvonne?”

She had witnessed moments of intimacy between Jonathan and Yvonne but had never broached the subject.

Estelle opened her eyes, gazing at the night sky beyond the window, and responded in a gentle tone, “I trust you.”

As soon as she finished, she felt the man’s breath behind her become heavier.

“Don’t you want to ask anything?” Jonathan asked.

“No!”

Jonathan grabbed her hand and forcefully turned her over to face him, staring at each other.
