Jonathan’s face suddenly turned stone cold, Yvonne’s last sentence hit him harder than anything she had ever said!
At this moment, he wasn’t disappointed or doubtful. He was freakin‘ terrified!
He was seriously scared. He didn’t give a damn about Estelle’s background or what kind of person she was, nor did he care about her initial intentions. The only thing he cared about was, did she ever love him?
He closed his eyes, recalling the scene of the image of Estelle getting into a car, hand in hand with another man. It was like a punch to his gut, his mind in complete chaos.
Seeing Jonathan’s grim face, Yvonne seized the opportunity to twist the knife, Jonathan, stop kidding yourself. Estelle’s got a hidden agenda, she’s playing footsie with other men. She’s totally not worth your love!!”
“Get out!” Jonathan spat out, with his eyes still closed.
Yvonne’s eyes widened, then she let out a sarcastic laugh, “You hate me, don’t you? Hate me for telling you the truth, for revealing Estelle’s true colors, that she’s not the innocent little girl in your heart! It’s okay, hate me if it makes you feel better!”
She picked up her bag, her eyes filled with tears, looking genuinely sincere, “Jonathan, please believe, everything I did was for you!”
Choked up, she turned and left.
Jonathan was leaning against the desk behind him, as still as a statue. A cold chill enveloped him, even the sunlight streaming in from the window seemed to dim.
After a while, he grabbed his phone and called Nate, “Look into someone!”

“Estelle!” Jonathan slowly replied, “Check her background and everyone she’s recently been in contact with.”
“Roger that!” Nate didn’t ask more, just took the task.
After hanging up, Jonathan seemed to be drained of all energy, clenching his phone. He didn’t want to think about anything, just waiting for the final answer.

The sound of water echoed, his voice was husky and meaningful.
Estelle turned off the shower, looked up and said, “Why are you asking this all of a sudden?”
“I want to know.”
Estelle thought for a moment, then shook her head, “It’s been too long, I don’t remember!”
“You can’t remember such a special day?” His voice grew darker.
