At the party, people kept coming over to toast with Jonathan, and he took them all up on it. In no time, he'd knocked back seven or eight glasses.
People around him complimented him, which made him feel bored. So he found an excuse and sat in the yard for a while. The little garden attached to the hotel banquet hall was blooming with all sorts of flowers.
Beneath the flower tree, a fair number of men and women who'd come out from the banquet hall were canoodling. Jonathan found a bench to sit on, took out his portable lighter, and started to fiddle with it.
This was the only thing Estelle had ever given him, but it wasn't something she'd bought for him specifically.
The less she cared about him, the more he became infatuated with her. Thinking about how he'd driven like a madman to C City to find her!
Was she playing these games with everyone?
Jason, Xavier, oh yeah, and that Manley Scott!
Jonathan couldn't help but laugh at himself, Estelle had always been quite the mystery. Like her never-seen grandfather, her unusual skills, why she was hired by Snowy Studios...
It's just that he'd always trusted her so blindly, he chose to ignore these things!
"President Lamont!"
A crisp voice came from behind, and a girl in a pink dress hurried over.
Jonathan turned his head and squinted slightly, "Gwen!"
Gwen had been brought by Mr. Powell to network with some film investors. She didn't expect to run into Jonathan here.
Gwen was all dolled up, makeup on point.
"Anyway, it's very good. Mr. Flemmings even remembers Estelle's menstrual period. Every few days, he will make some light things for Estelle alone. He is really considerate!" After Gwen finished speaking, she suddenly realized she might have said too much. She quickly covered her mouth and guiltily said, "President Lamont, don't get me wrong. Estelle and Mr. Flemmings are just ordinary friends, like us and Craig."
"Alright." Jonathan didn't say much, stood up, "I have something to do. I’ll go first!"
"President Lamont!" Gwen caught up with him and said with a smile, "I also want to go home. If it's on your way, could you give me a lift?"
"Not on the way!"
The man's tone was cold as he turned and walked away.
Gwen was ruthlessly rejected. She felt utterly embarrassed, watching the man's retreating figure as her smile gradually faded.
