By the time Damien and Grace arrived at Arlanda Airport, it was already ten-thirty at night local time.
"Grace!"
A familiar voice rang out in the arrivals hall.
Grace looked up stiffly to see Lottie Grant in a long trench coat waving at her.
Standing next to her was the tall, handsome Mark.
"Lottie..."
Grace opened her mouth to speak.
Lottie hurried over and pulled her into a tight hug.
Damien offered Lottie a curt nod. "Thanks for doing this."
"We're friends. Don't even mention it."
Lottie shot Damien a complex look but decided against saying anything, simply turning to lead the way.
The group piled into a waiting car.
Mark drove, Lottie took the passenger seat, while Damien and Grace sat in the back.
"Grace," Lottie turned around, clutching her phone, hesitating for a moment before speaking. "It was too crowded at the airport to show you this. But right before you landed, a hacker buddy of Mark's managed to pull some security footage from outside the terminal."
Grace's head snapped up, her eyes filled with desperate hope. "Is it Gianna?"
Lottie pressed her lips together and handed the phone over. "See for yourself."
Grace grabbed the device and tapped play.
The screen showed a grainy, distant feed from a security camera.
The timestamp indicated it was from seven hours ago.
A man dressed entirely in black, his face obscured by sunglasses, a mask, and a baseball cap, walked out of the terminal building.
He was carrying a child in his arms.
The child was thrashing violently, tiny fists flailing in the air. Even through the screen, her heart-wrenching wails were piercing.
"Gianna..."
Tears instantly flooded Grace's vision. "She's crying... She's calling for me..."
The clip was only twenty agonizing seconds long.
