The leader of the gang, now sporting two black eyes and a face twice its size, dropped to his knees-metaphorically-and begged, tears and all.
“Please, boss! Have mercy!”
Seconds earlier, she’d knocked them all out like dominoes. No wasted movement, no heavy breathing.
She stood still as a statue until she moved, and then she was a storm, terrifying, unstoppable, radiating undeniable boss energy.
“Please, boss! Don’t hurt us again!”
The whole group was trembling. Some even dropped their heads and clasped their hands like they were praying-anything to avoid another round.
The noise grated on Seraphina’s nerves. She preferred quiet, and this pathetic chorus of wailing men was driving her crazy.
“Anyone else makes a sound, they’re next.”
Silence fell instantly. They clamped their mouths shut so hard their faces turned red from holding their breath.
No one wanted a second round of that beatdown.
Satisfied, Seraphina turned to leave. But just as she stepped forward, someone latched onto her ankle. She looked down and saw the swollen, misshapen face of the leader-Tyler.
“Boss, you need a right-hand man?”
She blinked.
“I’ll work for you! I’ll do anything, just take me with you!”
Classic thug logic. He figured since she’d beat him, she must be worth following. And honestly, he wasn’t wrong.
His instincts told him this girl wasn’t just strong-she was something else entirely. Now or
never.
If he didn’t cling to this lifeline now, he’d rot as a nobody gang leader for the rest of his life.

Seraphina glanced at her ankle. Tyler let go like she burned him, then clasped his hands together in a pleading gesture, his face full of groveling hope.
“Not interested.”
She turned and walked away. Panicked, he scrambled to prove his worth.
“I’m not useless, I swear! I’m strong, I’ve got connections!”
She kept walking. Then he had an idea.
“Boss! I can get you into the underground market in Valedawn!”
That made her pause.
Now that was something she actually needed.
Hearing the shift, Tyler lit up and rushed up beside her, lowering his voice like he was offering
treasure.
“I’ve got people inside. I can get you in anytime, no questions asked.”
“Don’t embarrass me.”
She tossed the warning over her shoulder and strode off.
“Yes, Miss! You got it!” Tyler broke into a grin and followed her like a loyal puppy.
Meanwhile, back on the second floor of the Drayven estate, Viola sat in her room, staring at her phone.
She’d hired a few street thugs to rough up Seraphina-five grand promised once the job was done.
But she still hadn’t heard back. That didn’t sit right. How hard could it be to handle one girl?
Right then, there was a knock at the door.
“Viola? Mind if I come in?” It was Celestine’s voice.
Startled, Viola shoved her phone under the covers and rushed to the door.
“Come in, Auntie.”
