“Save your pride. You think someone like that even deserves to step into Trade City?” one of them scoffed.

“Exactly. Broke and desperate, always hoping to strike it rich by sheer luck. Pathetic,” another added.

Sneers and jeers erupted from all around. These people had been hanging around Trade City for years. Seeing that Tyler looked unfamiliar and that the blond guy clearly had money, they quickly took sides-siding with the cash.

The blond wasn’t done. Laughing, he taunted, “Come on, get on your knees and beg the vendor for your money back. Maybe if you grovel hard enough, he’ll throw you a bone. Otherwise, you’ll walk out of here in nothing but your underwear.”

Another burst of loud laughter broke out. Someone even let out a sharp whistle. A vendor shouted that he could hook Tyler up with a clearance rack special for two hundred and fifty bucks.

Two fifty, their way of calling someone a joke.

Tyler’s face turned crimson with fury. His hands twitched toward his waistband, ready to draw something-until Seraphina stepped in behind him. She pressed a firm hand to his shoulder and calmly warned, “Tyler.”

The handsome young vendor’s eyes snapped to Seraphina, realization dawning.

This is the real mastermind. Behind the mask, a pair of bright, clear eyes shine under the lights. It’s a girl.Who is she? How does she recognize it at a glance?

“Boss,” Tyler called her.

No way. A grown man calling a girl “boss”? He had to be some serious wimp.

Seraphina’s expression doesn’t change. “I’m not wasting my time arguing with trash.”

Gasps ripple through the crowd. The tension turns razor-thin.

“What did you just say?” the blond snaps. “You calling me trash? You better watch your mouth.”

He lunged with a punch aimed at her face. Seraphina calmly caught his arm, yanked it up, and flipped him clean over her shoulder. Her movements were sharp and efficient-brutal, even.

In the next second, she delivered a flurry of strikes-fist, knee, elbow. Every hit landed with precision. She dropped all of his buddies to the ground in under ten seconds. She hadn’t even broken a sweat.

The bystanders were stunned speechless.

Holy shit. Is she some kind of martial arts prodigy?

The look in everyone’s eyes changed as they stared at her-a mix of awe, confusion, and fear.

Just then, before anyone could recover, a hearty laugh rang out from the edge of the crowd.

“Hahaha! A real prodigy! Sharp eyes at such a young age. I’m impressed. I’ll offer nine million to buy the item in your hand. Would you be willing to part with it?”

What? Nine million?

Everyone on site nearly fainted.

Seraphina raised a brow slightly and turned toward the voice.

An older man in a black tailored coat stepped into view. His hair was snowy white, but his eyes burned bright. He walked with confidence, a group of assistants trailing behind.

One assistant stepped forward and bowed politely. “The price is negotiable. If nine isn’t enough, we can go higher.”

That sentence alone set off another explosion of whispers.

“Holy crap-nine million’s not enough?”

“Damn it, I saw it earlier too! Why didn’t I grab it?”

“Come on, no way a pendant is worth nine million. That old guy’s gotta be blind.”

“Shut your damn mouth. That’s Mr. Crane from the Obsidian Circuit-a national-level, Grade Nine antique appraiser,” the young vendor snapped.

Grade Nine, recognized at the national level, was the highest distinction anyone in the field could achieve.
