Now neither she nor Cassian would have to go on a blind date. By ten, it would not matter whether Cassian showed up or not. If he came, no one would be waiting for him. He would sit for a bit, then leave.
If he did not come, that was fine too. Either way, Celestine would never know.
According to the agency’s records, both blind dates would count as completed.
More than an hour later, the door to room 301 opened. A man and a woman stepped out together, talking and laughing.
They looked well matched.
Watching them walk away, Viola felt satisfied. After checking that no one was around, she quietly switched the room numbers back.
With everything done without a trace, she left in high spirits.
At ten o’clock, outside Dreamwing Café, a Bentley pulled into the parking lot.
Cassian ended a video meeting. Victor reminded him, “Mr. Drayven, we’re here.”
“Ten minutes,” Cassian said. “Schedule another video meeting with the project lead. Start on time. No delays.”
Victor stared at him. “Ten minutes?”
A ten minute blind date. Does that even count?
Cassian glanced over coldly. “You have a problem with that?”
“No, sir.” Victor swallowed and tried once more. “Mr. Drayven, even if you don’t want this, you should consider her feelings. You’re going up there just to turn her down. What if she can’t handle it?”
“I’m not worried.”
not
Victor choked on his words. Cold. Ruthless.
“And explaining this to Celestine won’t be easy,” Victor added. “At least sit there for half an hour. Just for
appearances.”
“You want to go instead?”
Victor forced a smile and said nothing more.
He had been with Cassian the longest. He knew no one would ever decide his marriage for him. At best,,
