Chapter 49 Threshold
“Who actually has that kind of access?” Lyanna asked.
“The six heirs of Stratmoor Group.”
Lyanna froze.

Stratmoor Group sat at the very top of Valedawn’s business world. And those six men were the most sought-after figures among the city’s elite, the kind everyone talked about but rarely saw.
Socialites lined up dreaming of marrying into that circle. If you counted them, the line could wrap around Valedawn more than once.
Whoever ended up marrying one of them would be stepping straight onto the peak of the social pyramid.
If she could ever get close to one of them, and somehow marry in…
She would probably wake up laughing from dreams alone.
“Did something happen?” Damian waved a hand in front of her face. “You’re staring off into space.”
Lyanna snapped back, quickly smoothing her expression. She lowered her voice, putting on a cautious, uneasy tone. “There’s something I’ve been hiding from you. I didn’t dare tell you.”
“Don’t be afraid,” Damian said firmly. “We’re already engaged. No matter what it is, we’ll face it together.”
Lyanna hesitated before saying softly, “My sister is in Valedawn.”
“What is she doing here?” Damian frowned, irritation written all over his face.
“I think…” Lyanna paused, then looked up. Her eyes widened, uncertainty and fear spilling out. “She wants revenge. She wants to take you from me.
“She might even lie and claim that Spring Banquet in Autumn’s Twilight was painted by her.”
“I won’t believe her,” Damian said without hesitation. He cupped Lyanna’s face, his voice full of devotion. “In this world, I only believe you.”
Lyanna threw herself into his arms. “Damian, why are you so good to me? I feel so happy… and so insecure. Sometimes I think I don’t deserve you.”
“Silly girl,” Damian said softly, holding her close and stroking her hair. “You’re a celebrated talent, known far and wide. The Roth family should be grateful you’re willing to marry in.”
Lyanna’s body stiffened almost imperceptibly. A flash of panic crossed her eyes. She quickly changed the subject. “Damian, I want to take a look inside that restaurant. Is that okay?”
That put Damian in a difficult spot.
Not wanting to lose face in front of her, he forced himself to ask the staff member at the entrance.

The staff member looked at them with confusion. “Sorry, sir. LoveSea Bistro isn’t open to the public. It’s a private restaurant.”
That was hardly a secret in Valedawn.
Lyanna hurriedly asked. “Then who’s allowed inside?”
“The six heirs of Stratmoor Group, and their friends,” the staff member replied impatiently.
In plain terms, it was their private gathering place.
Since they weren’t operating as a business, they had no reason to entertain outsiders.
Damian came from wealth himself. He had grown up surrounded by admiration and deference.
He wasn’t used to being brushed off like this. His face darkened, and he grabbed Lyanna’s hand, ready to leave.
“Wait,” Lyanna said suddenly. An idea sparked. “Damian, didn’t you say you have a friend who owns a publicly listed food supply company?”
Damian looked at her, puzzled. “What are you thinking?”
“I want to slip in with the delivery staff.”
“Why would you do that?” Damian asked, clearly confused.
“I…” Lyanna hesitated, then forced out a reason. “I want to go to the kitchen and… learn a few techniques. So I can cook something good for you.”
The excuse sounded flimsy even to her.
