Before Seraphina could respond, Isaac suddenly appeared, smiling awkwardly. “Mr. Drayven, can take Seraphina.”

“The pendant needs special handling,” he added. “Transport and maintenance are complicated, and 1-

“Okay. You take me,” Seraphina said, cutting him off.

In that instant, Cassian felt like he had brought this on himself. If he’d known it would be this much trouble, he wouldn’t have given her that pendant.

There goes their chance to be alone…

Then again, that wasn’t entirely true. The three of them could go together.

He let it go. Better to respect her choice and not push things too fast.

He watched the car disappear before getting into his Bentley and driving off.

Isaac kept glancing at her through the rearview mirror. Her face was calm, pleasant to look at, quiet.

He wasn’t admiring it.

His heart was pounding. His hands shook visibly on the steering wheel.

“Pull over.”

He immediately pulled to the side, turning around nervously. “Seraphina, what’s wrong?”

She curved her lips slightly. “I’d like to live a little longer.”

His hands were shaking that badly. If he kept driving, this was going to end badly.

“Talk,” Seraphina said calmly, resting her chin on her hand. Isaac swallowed, eyes darting. Should he confess everything or hold something back?

Seeing right through him, Seraphina rubbed her thumb and index finger together and said two words quietly, “Long box.”

Isaac’s scalp tingled. Goosebumps broke out.

He wiped his face, suddenly seeing hope. “Seraphina, help me.”

He told her everything.

His brother had worked in a legitimate field. Five years ago, on his birthday, his brother gave him a gift.

At first, Isaac had wanted to toss it into the closet. Not long after, his brother fell seriously ill and passed

away.

After a period of grief, life returned to normal.

One night after dinner, he saw the news. A museum had lost a dog.

He panicked, ran to the closet, and compared them. They were identical.

Terrified, he realized how serious the situation was and secretly moved the item to LoveSea Bistro.

The restaurant wasn’t open to the public and was backed by Stratmoor Group. No one would investigate there.

Seraphina nodded. That matched what she suspected.

A first-tier artifact, taken from a long wooden box, displayed in a museum.

Stolen from inside the museum. A major case.

“Enough to send you to prison for life,” she said calmly.

Isaac broke down. “Seraphina, help me. I didn’t mean it. I really didn’t know…”

“Why didn’t you turn it in back then?”

‘I I was scared. My brother was already gone. I couldn’t explain myself.”
