Full Moon Curse (by Dream) novel Chapter 103

Chapter 103

((

Once I get inside, I run over to Jessica. She pulls me into her arms and holds me tight. Out of the corner of my eye I see Frank get up and head outside. Good, now Nick will have backup. She pulls away from me to look over me. Fuck. We gotta get you cleaned up, sweetie.” Then it’s like everything comes rushing back to me. My eyes widen and I stare up at her shaking my head, “No, I have to leave. I have to leave now!” I shout and without her being able to respond I take off running upstairs. I quickly change my clothes, throw a few things in a suitcase and grab the money I have been saving up. It’s not much, but hopefully it’ll help me start somewhere new again.

I turn towards the door and see a teary Jessica waiting. I walk past her, “I really wish I could explain, but I can’t. I have to go. I’m so sorry for leaving like this but thank you for everything. You have no idea how much your kindness has meant to me.” I stop at the bottom of the stairs and pull her in for one last hug. “Be safe, sweetie.” She says lovingly and places an envelope in my hand, I look at it and it’s filled with cash. I stare up at her, “I can’t take this.” I say while trying to hand it back to her. She smiles softly, “You’ve been like a daughter to me. I forgot what it felt like. Please be safe.” She says wiping a tear from her cheek and shoving the envelope in my purse. I smile, “Thank you.” and I head for the door, I don’t have time to argue and I could use the money.

I start walking, and a minute later I hear footsteps running up behind me. I turn around terrified, and see Nick running up to me, covered in blood from the fight. Hopefully it’s not his. “Thank you for everything, Nick. I have to go though.” He grabs my arm, his mind seemingly thinking over something in his head. “Get in my car. I’m coming with you.” He says, I shake my head. “Don’t be ridiculous, we barely know one another. I’ll be fine, but I have to go now.” I say and turn starting to walk again. I hear him sigh, “Amber! I’m coming with you! It’s not up for discussion. If you don’t want to get into the car and make an easier get away, then I’ll walk with you!” I turn around stunned, but I really don’t have time for this. It would be easier to get away in the car, maybe I can convince him to come back after I’m far enough away. I nod and quickly head to his car. We both jump in, and I throw my suitcase and purse into the back.

He takes off down the road, we’re both completely silent. He drives for a minute and then slows turning into a driveway. “What are we doing?” I ask starting to get frightened. “I just need a couple things. I’ll be two minutes. Stay in the car, Amber. I’ll find you if you try and run without me. Please, let me help you.” I nod, I already planned on staying in the car. I really do need to make a quick getaway.

I look down at the necklace that I have clutched in my hands. I start looking around Nick’s car for a tool to fix the clasp, when he gets back in the car. “What are you looking for?” He asks, seeing me searching. “I need a tool or something to fix my necklace.” He looks at the necklace and then starts to grab it. I clutch it harder, and he seems to understand that I’m not letting it go. He grabs the clasp, allowing me to hold the rest and puts it between his teeth, bending the metal back into place. Once he’s done, I instantly latch it back on my neck. “We have to go! Drive!” I yell.
