We get to the Alpha’s office, and John and Julia are already waiting for us behind the desk. Liam and I walk in and take the two seats in front of the desk. And we wait. The tension in the room seems to build higher the longer they stare at us. They clearly don’t want to tell us what they need to.
Finally, Alpha John speaks up, “Amy, there’s a lot that you’re going to learn. It won’t be pretty. Are you sure you’re well enough to handle it?” He asks as he stares into my soul. I mean I don’t know if I want to know, but I do know I need to know. Maybe this can answer some of my questions. I nod, “Yes, I can handle it.” Liam squeezes my hand tighter. John sighs and starts his story.
“Your mom came to us before you were born, on the run. She was very pregnant, and once we found out the situation, we decided to help her.” He pauses to take a long breath. And looks at Liam, “Have you told her the story of the moon man?” He asks. My eyes shoot to Liam, confused. Liam with the same confused expression nods his head slowly. Alpha nods and looks back at me, “The moon man is not just a legend, Amy. He’s your father.” My eyes go wide, “What?” I whisper, still trying to connect the dots.
“Your mom was mates with him. She didn’t know who he was at first, but when she found out she ran like hell. Found a way to hide the both of you and landed here.” I look at him like he’s crazy. “That doesn’t make any sense.” I look at Liam, “The legend you guys told me never said anything about him being a wolf. How were they mates?” I look around the room waiting for someone to explain. Julia looks at me sadly, “Because dear, your mom was a wolf. In order to hide you both she had to subdue the wolf inside both of you.” My eyes feel like they’re about to pop out of my head. I look over at Liam, and I’m not sure what he’s thinking. “Both of us? Are you saying…” I can’t even finish, but look up at Julia pleading for an answer. She nods her head silently answering my question. I’m a wolf? I’ve been a wolf all this time? Why didn’t she tell me?
I look back at them realizing something, “So, in the legend it says he kills his family.” I feel Liam flinch, but I continue, “But he does it without knowing. And he’s regretful after. But he told me he wanted to kill me, that he would enjoy it.” Everyone’s eyes go wide, because I never told them that. Liam pulls my chair closer to his and wraps his arm around me. The Alpha decides to answer after awhile of us all staring at each other, “Well, the only thing I can think of there is what your mother told us. She said he was convinced she was a monster when he found out. He hates our kind, so it probably didn’t sit well with him that he not only mated with a wolf but also conceived one. But Amy you have to remember not everything in the legends are true. They get mixed up and changed everything Liam told you probably isn’t the full truth.” He says, looking at me sadly. “Okay… What isn’t true?” I ask.
He sighs again, “Well, one thing your mom told us was that he’s only strong on a full moon. Every other day of the year he’s just as strong as any human.” I look up at him sadly, he already knows my question. “Yes, the night of the attack and tonight are both full moons.” I look down, remembering my mom rushing to the calendar after she found out about the necklace. She must have messed up looking at it. “So, should we be worried about tonight?” I ask looking up at them. He shakes his head, “No, I have warriors surrounding the house and on the inside. And for some reason it seems he doesn’t want to be known. He’s being sneaky about his attacks and that doesn’t sound like all the information we have on him. He usually runs in and takes down full packs, only leaving one alive.” John answers. So, he doesn’t usually do the silent attacks but he is now. What if he decides to change it up then, what if he decides that he’s bored with this game and decides to take out the whole pack. No, I can’t have that.
“No!” I jump at Liam’s sudden outburst and look over at him. Why is he looking at me? He bends down in front of me and pulls my face so I can only look at him. “Stop. You’re not leaving. We’ll figure all this out, but I’m not letting you run. You won’t be protected at all, none of us want that. It’s not an option. Okay?” Liam finishes

trying to read my thoughts. Granted, he’s already doing a pretty good job at it. I look up at the Alpha and Luna.” We want to protect you, sweetie. We don’t want you running.” Julia says sweetly, her eyes kind. I look at the Alpha and he nods sharing her sentiments. I look back at Liam, “Okay.” He lets out a breath of air and closes his eyes. He leans over and hugs my waist with his head in my chest. I lay my chin down on his head, taking in all the support I’m getting from him. The Alpha coughs and Liam sits back in his chair but picks me up and puts me
