Chapter 127 Victory Was Right There
Chapter 127 Victory Was Right There
The patrolling guards stopped dead, exchanging looks. The comms channel erupted into chaos.
“Alert in Core Zone Al! Highest priority!”
“Squads One and Two, move in and report!”

The orders came through. None of the guards at the end of the corridor took a single step forward.
Most of them were A-class and B-class. On a normal day, they steered clear of Zone AL. Now? That was an SSS-class on the edge of full frenzy. Walking in there was suicide.
“Sir…” A young B-class soldier swallowed hard. The rifle in his hands was shaking. “That’s Commander Iverson’s isolation chamber. At current radiation levels, we’d be dead before we got close.”
The officer in charge went pale. He cursed under his breath. “Get Lieutenant Pierce on the line! Now! Tell him to get back here!”
The elevator ground open in a shower of sparks and the stench of scorched circuitry.
Kiran dropped the drained particle pistol at his feet. He straightened his sleeves and stepped into the car.
The elevator dropped fast. The doors slid open. Kiran surged forward.
And a mountain of pressure crashed down on his spine from every direction at once.
His eardrums throbbed. His temples pounded. His knees screamed under the weight.
He went straight down, slamming onto the metal grate floor with a heavy, wet thud. The metallic taste of blood flooded his throat.
Blood sprayed from his mouth.
It’s over!
He lay in a pool of his own blood with only that thought left.
Baar’s still alive! That monster is watching me right now!
Cold sweat soaked through his shirt. He waited for the killing blow. One second, Two. Half a minute. Nothing came but the crushing gravity, No attack. No movement,
Kiran forced his head up, teeth gritted, His eyes found the transparent isolation wall ahead.
Baar was slumped on the bed. Commander-in-chief of the entire Federal Military-a man who had once stood atop everyone now a wreck. His hair was matted and tangled. His gold eyes were unfocused and dim.
The serperit thrashed beside him in agony,

Baar was burning everything he had to hold back a frenzy that could tear through half a planet. Nothing left for anything else.
Kiran felt like luck was totally on his side.
Who cared if his particle pistol was dead? All he had to do was crawl back into the elevator, ride up to the surface, and open a channel to the top brass.
He already had the speech ready.
“Lieutenant Pierce concealed Commander Iverson’s true condition with intent to mutiny. I discovered the anomaly and proceeded to the underground isolation chamber. Commander Iverson is in full, irreversible frenzy.”
Under Federal Military code, once an SSS-class male fell into complete frenzy, the base had no choice. They would deploy heavy mechs, drag him into deep space, and execute termination through exile.
Gary would face a military tribunal. Baar would become space debris.
And Margaret-that foolish woman-was nothing more than a prop Gary had put forward as a decoy.
Once Kiran had control, he’d only need to offer her a little kindness and promise her immunity. She’d crawl back and kneel at his feet, devoted and obedient, just like before.
The thought alone seemed to dull the pain in his bones.
He clawed forward on his hands and knees. Every inch felt like a mountain weighing down on him. Cold sweat soaked through his shirt. The fine fabric was caked with dust and blood. He didn’t care.
Victory was right there.
His fingers brushed the elevator’s edge. He was about to haul himself in.
“Ding!”
A second hidden elevator chimed softly. The doors slid open.
Kiran hadn’t expected Margaret to show up. But he wasn’t worried.
His gaze trailed up from her boots. She had one hand in her pocket, the other holding a half-empty can.
Under pressure enough to crush bones to dust, she was just a little pale.
A sharp flicker crossed Kiran’s eyes.
This is what an SSS-class female can do?
He had to have her. That thought burned hotter than it ever had before.
“Well.” Margaret’s voice was light, dripping with contempt. “Gotta hand it to you, Major General Noah. Really putting in the effort. Even scrubbing the floors.”

“Margaret-Kiran swallowed a mouthful of blood and forced his voice to stay soft. “Stop. Baar is beyond saving. He’s going to blow, and everyone here is going to die.”
He stretched out his blood-smeared hand for her to take.
Margaret said nothing. She tilted her head, her gaze moving past him to the isolation wall.
It was bad. The serpent’s gold eyes had nearly drowned in red. Only a faint point of light still held on at the very bottom.
“Help me up.” Kiran gentled his voice further. “Come with me. I’ll get you out. I’ll report to command and have mechs deployed to handle him. Just cooperate, and I swear-you won’t be touched by any of this.”
