Margaret worked through the logic in reverse. If Baar died on the front lines during a frenzy, or inside the military itself, who would profit?

Without a clear leader, the Federal Military would spiral into total chaos. On the Empire side, Lesley was gravely ill, and Norman was still a kid who could barely read. Greven held all the real power. If the Federation fell into internal strife, Greven could use it as an excuse to strike-and even swallow the Federation whole.

He didn’t just want to create the perfect being. He wanted to rule the entire galaxy.

Greven was the one pulling Kiran’s strings. He also had deep, tangled ties to the insectoids.

It was a ruthless, calculated plan. He was already the Empire’s sole heir, but it still wasn’t enough for him.

“Primo,” she called out.

Primo replied, “Right here, Host! What do you need?”

“Can you cure the poison in Baar’s body?” she asked.

Primo said. “Let me check. There’s something called the All-Purpose Antidote. It’s not from this world, and it can neutralize any poison. But… it’s a little pricey.”

Margaret let out a bitter, dry laugh. “How pricey?”

“Two thousand points.” Primo said.

The bedroom went dead silent.

Margaret pulled up her system panel and glanced at her pitiful account balance in the top right corner. It read 221 points,

“Ripoff,” Margaret muttered through gritted teeth.

“This is the High-Grade Purification Agent. It neutralizes any contamination or toxin and works instantly. System-made, top quality,” Primo spoke with intense excitement, his voice buzzing. It was like a banner waving and a drum beating nonstop inside her head,

Margaret said nothing.

Baar was her strongest line of defense right now. If the poison stayed in his system, his frenzy level would always be a nicking time bomb. Greven was a maniac who’d stitch living people together without a second thought. She needed her team at full strength, no exceptions, to go up against him.

Even if it was a terrible deal, she had to take it.

“Can’t. I put it on credit?” Margaret rubbed her temples.

“Loans are available.” Primo’s voice turned syrupy sweet right away. “Want me to redeem it for you now?”

“Not yet.” Margaret stopped Primo mid-move.

The royal family’s banquet was the day after tomorrow. If Greven was bold enough to send out invitations publicly, he must have already set a perfect trap inside the palace.

She was a walking target right now. Even with Baar and Cheiron protecting her, there was always a chance something could slip through the cracks.

e needed her own

She couldn’t rely on anyone else to keep her safe. She needed her own defenses.

“Open the System Mall.” Margaret sat up cross-legged. “I need to find something to keep me alive. Things are way too dangerous right now-I need some self-defense gear.”

Primo smiled, “Got it. The mall is open for you.”

A pale blue holographic screen popped up in front of her, packed with all kinds of items.

Margaret stared at the screen, and her frustration grew with every second.

The top recommended items were completely ridiculous.

It read, “Queenly Aura Perfume: For ten minutes after spraying, all nearby males will think you’re impossibly cool and wonder why you’re not paying attention to them. Price: 88 points.”

Margaret rolled her eyes. She didn’t need more presence right now. She needed a weapon that could knock Greven’s head clean off his shoulders.

She swiped down with her finger.

“Self-Defense Shock Ring: Works on anyone below A-class. Effectiveness on A-class and up depends on how tough they are. Price: 120 points.”

Junk Every single guard in the palace is at least A-class. This thing will barely stun a mosquito.

Margaret kept scrolling and finally spotted an item tucked away in the corner of the weapons category.

It read. “Micro Particle Cutting Wire: Hides on the outside of your wrist. Cuts through anything at high speed within a 10-foot range. Price; 1,500 points.

“High-Grade Purification Agent: Clears all contamination and poison. Price: 2,000 points.”

Margaret’s finger froze.

Together they cost three thousand five hundred points.

“Primo.” Margaret stared at the screen with a blank face. “Any discount gimmicks? Flash deals? Referral cutdowns?”

Primo stumbled over its words. “Uh… no,”

“What about a new user discount?” Margaret asked. || |_||

Primo sighed, “Host, you’re not a new user anymore.”

“Loyal customer reward?”
