Gold Digger vs Gold Saver My Man's Double Life novel Chapter 91

Chapter 8

I wanted to keep going, but Steve cut me off. “Enough. We’re your parents you shouldn’t be bitching about everything we do.”

“We didn’t come here to listen to your sob story!”

“We’re here to give you two choices!”

“Choice one: skip studying abroad this year and try again next year with Tyler.”

“But here’s the deal if you go next year, you’re Tyler’s babysitter. You’ll handle all his shit, and you better get a job to pay your own way.”

“Choice two: drop out completely.”

“You said your friend’s family owns that restaurant, right? Perfect job for you. We spent twenty years raising you to help your brother succeed!”

“You can make some cash, and when you get married, we’ll use your wedding money to fund Tyler’s business when he graduates!”

I didn’t say anything.

Tyler was getting antsy. “Madison, you need to know your fucking place. Why do you think Mom and Dad had you? Everything was for ME!”

“Besides, what’s college gonna do for a girl anyway?”

“If I were you, I’d forget about studying abroad, get a decent job here, then get married and pop out some kids. When I’m rich and successful, I’ll take care of you!”

I wasn’t angry.

But I was completely done.

After thinking for a second, I asked, “If I give up everything for you guys, what’s in it for me?”

“What’s in it for you?”

“You want something in return?”

All three looked like I’d grown a second head.

I nodded. “I could do both – help Tyler prep for another year so he can get into Harvard or Yale or whatever.”

Chapter 8

“But if I’m throwing away my future, what are you giving m?”

They didn’t know what to say, but mentioning Ivy League schools got Tyler hyped immediately. He dragged Steve and Karen out of my room for a family huddle.

Karen finally realized I had the balls to negotiate with her.

She started yelling: “Are you out of your goddamn mind? I should give YOU something? I gave you LIFE! Food, clothes, a home, an education- and you want MORE?”

Steve jumped in: “Girls your age are working their asses off to support their families. What makes you think you deserve special treatment?”

I kept quiet.

But Tyler shut them both up.

“Mom, Dad, Madison’s way smarter than me. She could’ve gotten into way better schools but chose to match with me instead.”

“If she actually helps me study for real this time, I could get into an Ivy League. So you NEED to give her what she

wants!”

Steve and Karen went silent.

Tyler got frustrated and pulled them into the master bedroom. Thanks to the nanny cam I’d hidden in the living room, I could hear every word.

“Tyler, we get it, but what if she doesn’t play along next year”
