“Why you look like you’re dumped by someone?” Felix raised a brow at me.

“I had a big fight with Tessa.” I sighed and rubbed my temples.

“Don’t tell that you were the one to mess up with her and she didn’t like something you had done.”

“It’s complicated. I am not wrong this time but Tessa isn’t ready to understand that this time she isn’t right. I presented facts to her but she strongly believes that Raelynn was behind Lena’s kidnapping. I thoroughly investigated the case and Raelynn has nothing to do in her kidnapping.”

There was a pause between us.

“You f*cked up, brother. You shouldn’t have said it openly on her face. You know how she must have felt. Her mental and emotional condition wasn’t in a state to understand your point of view.” Felix said and it finally sank in my mind.

“I don’t know how to approach her. She is really mad at me.” I said.

“Give her some time. She loves you and she understands you like a mature person.” He said giving me a pat on the back.

“I feel pathetic. She’s hurt and I don’t know how to make her feel better and also convince her to believe that it was an unfortunate incident. Someone tried to take our daughter for money.” I shook my head.

“You need a strong drink, man. Let me bring my best bourbon for you.” He said and about to get up but I shook my head in denial.

“No, there’s no need for it. I don’t want to reek of alcohol in front of my daughter who jumps into my arms as soon as she sees me.”

He smiled and sat down again.

“Alright, I think a cup of coffee would lift up your mood.” He said and instructed his maid to prepare to cups of coffee.

It was almost evening. I spent most of the time at Felix’s house since I was too distracted to focus on my work.

“I am going home and ask for her sincere apology. I hope she understands and forgives me.” I said in a dejected tone.

“Best of luck, brother.” He showed thumbs up to me.

I left his house and, in my way back home, I bought her favourite white tulips and red roses with dark chocolates to lift up her mood. I hoped she’d forgive me.

An uneasy feeling stirred in my heart. I couldn’t pin on it but it wasn’t good. I felt like something bad was about to happen.

“Can you drive faster?” I impatiently asked my driver.

“I am sorry, Sir but Mrs. Wilferd gave me strict orders to drive on normal speed even if there’s an emergency and she’s right.” My driver responded.

Since my accident, Tessa was paranoid and never let me drive the car on high speed.

I sighed and sat back but my heart was telling me to reach home faster.

Wasting no time as soon as the car parked in the garage, I picked the flowers and chocolates and walked into main house with long strides.

The house was quiet unlike the normal laughter of Lucas or Lena’s cries. The house staff could also not

be seen.

The silence was eerie.
